  • Amazing bass!

As reviewed by Deanna Thomas on 2/7/2013

I bought this bass maybe a month ago and it is amazing. I had been looking everywhere for a small, lightweight bass with a big, fat tone and this is it! I weighed it, and it approximately 7.5 pounds, which was about 1.5lbs lighter than my neck-through Carvin bass I had previously. It makes such a difference when you're playing for long periods of time. The pickups sound great, but not on every amp. It's nice and clear through my Ampeg combo, but through an Aguilar head and cabinet I had a bit of trouble getting a nice clear, fat sound out of it playing finger style (great pick and slap tone though). I currently play almost everything from rock to jazz to funk, and this bass fits in nicely for every style of music. I would totally recommend this!

  • Great feel, Great sound, Great price

As reviewed by Tom Steele on 2/6/2010

For the record I play an Ibanez SR5005 Prestige. It's been my only bass for nearly 3 yrs. Starting to look for a backup, just in case. Was at my local music dealer & wanted to demo the new Fender TV12 combo amp & went looking for a bass to do just that. Happened on the Ibanez SR605. Looked appealing, straight forward design, Bartolini pickups, similar to my-twice-the price bass, similar electronics, let's give it a go... I was very impressed by the lighter weight & balance, plus smooth playability. In seconds I had my sound dialed in(punchy mids, subtle highs, fat, but not muddy, lows). That's just what I like, but with this EQ & pickup combo I'm sure you can get alot more. Craftsmanship is superb for this price range. Sure it has a bolt on neck, but unless your in the studio shedding on some bass solo, who's gonna notice? I've owned Fender P basses in this price range, demoed a Fender 5 string J bass & I will go with Ibanez everytime. Fender bass guitars are stuck on their heritage, as impressive as that is, & tweek the line now & then. Ibanez is creating new products for the modern bass player. They're not your grandfathers bass. Hey, even Cadillac had to change with the times. That Fender TV12 combo...awesome. But that's another review.

  • Great Versatile Sounding Bass

As reviewed by David M LaBuda on 6/6/2010

I love everything about my Ibanez bass. It looks great, plays exceptionally well and sounds magnificent! The controls on the guitar itself allow you a very wide range of sounds which is extremely important to me as a bass player who playes and writes in a variety of genres ranging from country to jazz and include various rock, metal and techno sounds as well. With the right effects, I have been able to reproduce every sound I have needed on this one bass alone! You're gonna love it too!
