  I bought this guitar a year ago and i was lucky enough to get it during the 4th of July sale. The guitar is great the 7th string takes a little getting used to at first it really feels like a completely different instrument but i haven't picked up a 6 string since. Ive found that the extended range guitars are great for all sorts of bar chords the added bass almost makes it unnecessary to have a bassist. The body on the guitar is great and the neck is superb compared to the fatter chunkier necks that other 7 string guitar company's have and the stock pickups really don't need replacing for the price overall this guitar is well worth it. its no prestige but its close to it.

  First off-the finish on this guitar is a deep, glossy black. Not the satin black that every picture of this guitar seems to show. That's fine by me because it looks great. The finish is a little thin around the input jack and you can see the mahogany coming true slightly on the edge. The neck is incredible, but takes some getting used to. You need almost no pressure from your fingers on the fretboard to sound a note, so if you are used to playing your guitar with a death grip like me, your hand will wear out fast! The tremolo is way better than a floyd rose and is a lot smoother to operate and very consistent. Not a huge fan with how the arm attaches but I am sure this is because I am also not used to playing with a tremolo. It attaches with a screw on nut that can be tightened to adjust tension instead of a drop in, ball bearing tension style set up. There was a little fret buzz on the 7th string (low B) and this was greatly reduced when I did a set up on the guitar and adjusted the bridge height and neck slightly. I am qualified to do these things so if you are uncomfortable doing them have a shop do it. I was also not wonderfully pleased with how some of the frets are set. They seem to be at a slight angle and some are slightly more raised than others, but I haven't found this to affect playable at all so maybe it's a moot point and just me finding stuff wrong. The guitar sounds great. I play metal and that is what this guitar was meant for. The pickups are a little hot so even with a clean tone on my amp, hard picking produces some overdrive. Otherwise, the pickups sound great and are a great middle ground between bright and warm. The overall playability of this guitar is excellent. Every note plays clear and is easily sounded and things such as bends and hammer ons/offs are perfect. No complaints about how this plays at all. It is also very light even though it is mahogany. The best part is that it is super thin and has no sharp edges so your forearm doesn't get sore. Great guitar if you want the tremolo. I think it is way superior to the RG as far as feel goes, but playability wise it is identical. The walnut stripes in the neck the RG has would be a nice touch, but not really missed. Great guitar and looks great too.

• An Amazing Guitar

  I love the body style and the over all tone that this guitar gives off, I have a Digitech 2101 and it sounds amazing through my amp!! But it plays amazing, I have an early 90's S series and i thought it played amazing and I got this guitar and was surprised at how it need no set up at all it just right out of the box played incredible! I love this tremolo system its just very very smooth and efficient, over all an amazing guitar, I recommend it to any all guitarists anywhere looking for an amazing playing and sounding guitar, even 6 string players!! A very good buy, a little expensive but I mean, I also play charvel's and this thing plays better so it is worth every penny in my opinion!
