I just recently bought this guitar. I had seen it on GC's website having always loved Ibanez I wanted to try it. It has amazing tone quality for the price and it is a very comfortable guitar to play. I would much rather have this 8 string than others because of the price and I have noticed it plays much better than the more expensive ones from any brand. It holds tuning very well. I am a shredder so I wanted the larger scale to play from. It keeps tune when you bend the string. It comes out of the box ready for live performance and studio work. It is a high quality guitar for a very good price. The cut out is great for playing in the higher region and the contoured heel makes it easier to play in the higher frets. It has a very smooth thin neck. The neck isn't a monstrous gargantuan thing like others that I have played, it's very comfortable. This guitar is worth every penny.

  • Ibby RG8, Not even the Pickups advertised.

As reviewed by Drew Peck on 10/18/2013

I bought an Ibanez RG8 a few months back as a late birthday present to myself since I had been playing 7 strings for a while I wanted to dive into 8. Anyways, I love the way the guitar plays and feels. With the wide but slim Wizard II neck, it's easy scaling up and down the fret board. My only concern with this guitar is the pickups. Now, I usually don't like Ibby stock pickups anyways, but this one lowered the bar even more. It's not even an Ibanez pickup. It's not an AH-18 and an AH-28 like it says here on Guitarcenter, it's not an IBZ 8 like it says on the Ibanez website. It's a Cort EVL Bass pickup. I saw some controversy going on about it on facebook and looked into myself with online searched and even taking the spring cushion off my neck pickup and it still had the Cort label "EVL 25B 5ST" Honestly, I love the guitar. The pickup bugs me since there's no high end really and the low end is muddy and unclear.Even more so that it's a BASS pickup (not even a guitar pickup) and not the pickups advertised on any website. My only recommendation is replace the pickups and it's and great guitar

  • Do it!

I never thought I'd write a review on anything ever, but I just had to let the world know how great this guitar (especially for the price!) If you're thinking about maybe getting an eight string or even a seven string, get this guitar! You really won't regret it. It plays great, sounds awesome right out of the box, and looks badass (mine's in white). I was hesitant to go straight to an eight string from a six because I have pretty small hands for a guitarist, but after doing some forum-reading, I got that "ah f*ck it" attitude. And I gotta say, it was one of the best decisions I've made in a while purchase-wise. It just opened up a whole new world of exploration and creativity when it comes to jamming. Also, I was a little worried it wouldn't sound all that great with my little Peavey Vypyr 15 because of the low bass strings, but it actually sounds great! So don't let that cause you to hold back from buying this guitar! If you're comfortable on a six string and looking for some new challenges and possibilities, get this guitar! Not to mention this guitar sounds incredible clean and distorted. So many different options, it's amazing. Plus, I've only been playing electric guitar for about 9 years, never had a lesson, and I've had no problem adjusting to it! Sure your hand gets sore quicker than on a six string, but you barely notice it when you're in the zone jamming. Wow this is really getting really long, peace out.
