  • Amazing!!!

As reviewed by Ryan Koryciak on 3/21/2013

I purchased the new RG7420 just a couple of days ago and I can say that this guitar has lived up to what I thought could ever be from a guitar. I have owned a few Ibanez's in the past but when I unboxed my new RG7420 and played this amazing instrument I found it plays really nice and sounds great too! I and a friend of mine set the guitar up and since I haven't put it down for too long. the black pick-ups have a lot of gain and the edge tremolo give it a sleek look. I would definitely recommend this product.All-around it is just really fun to play. The fret board is pretty flat but I have my action pretty low, but this guitar's jumbo frets feel nice when running my fingers up and down scales on it. Don't forget to get yours set up a little when you get it so it plays how you want.

  • A Step Up

As reviewed by Michael on 12/29/2014

A few years ago, I purchased a used RG7421. It was my first foray into the realms of 7 string playing. I had quite a lot of fun with that guitar, though I was often sad that it had only a fixed bridge. Rock solid stable tuning, yes, but no noodly squeedily meedily fun stuff... After playing that guitar exclusively at my church, and developing my 7 string bar chord and scale skills, it was stolen from the church after a Sunday service. I was heartbroken. I questioned whether to save up money and buy the same guitar again, and ended up setting my sights a fair bit higher: on an RG2228 Prestige. I can tell you that is quite an adjustment, going from missing my 7 string and practicing on my old 6, to playing an 8 string extended range. The thing is BEAST. As much as I love it, and have made significant progress in adapting my hands to the instrument, I still missed my old 7421. So for Christmas this year, my family decided to pool their resources and surprise me with this guitar. Which is not a direct replacement, mind you, but a significant step up. I had purchased the 7421 used, though it was still in fairly good shape. It needed some love and adjustment before I was comfortable playing it. This guitar blew my socks off. Opening the box and lifting its brand-new-ness out, looking over its pristine glossy body, the sleek shine of the natural wood tones, and the BADASS Edge-Zero bridge. I felt instantly at home on this guitar, no adjustment period, no stretching. Restoration. With room to grow. I plan to make music on this guitar for many years to come. And I'm locking them in the closet now.

  • WOW... Amazing sound, Feel, Neck, This is what I have been looking for in a guitar

As reviewed by Johnathan Eidson on 3/20/2013

I have been playing over 16 years and have played about every genre you can think of. I have modified my equipment and have played on several brands of guitars. I got a yellow Ibanez rg6420 1989 version used off of ebay about 10 years ago and Loved that guitar but had to sell it off for a cheaper 7 string at the time. I have learned to love that brand out until I seen they had a new white version of this RG7420. I didn't even wait to try it out cause I already knew this was the guitar for me. I missed Ibanez and Love Ibanez and got this shipped to me the second it was made from the factory. This has a AMAZING SLICK FAST Wizard neck. It came tuned from the factory and locked down and it was still "tuned" when I got it. The feel is a heavier body feel but the sustain is well worth the extra weight. It reminds me I am playing on a real guitar now. The pictures do it zero justice and the play-ability is outta this world. The stock pickups sounded 10 times as crunchier and heavy in tone than my older guitar and the 5 switch really lets you experience a wide range of tones and sounds. It sounds great clean with rich fat tone I can literally play death metal then jump to blues and it sounds perfect ether way. This guitar is BEAST. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking to invest in a great guitar. I used it at two practices now and a concert without worry. I run though a peavy 5150 stack and paired with that its ALOT of BEAST.
