Product Information

A versatile, affordable rocker's weapon.

The Ibanez RG5EX1 electric guitar's pickups and pickup placement provide the hard-edged cutting tone needed for heavy rock.

Since 1987, many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups and flat, fast necks, the RG crunched its way to classic status.

As heavy as it rocks, the RG5EX1 guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is between alder and mahogany in sound character. 24 jumbo frets offer easy playing for leads and chording and the Edge III tremolo bridge lets you dive-bomb all night long while keeping tuning tight.

Total tonal choice is provided 5-way switching of an Ibanez Infinity 4 bridge humbucker with an alnico magnet that is warm sounding with good harmonics, an Infinity 3 bridge humbucker with a ceramic magnet producing dynamic sound for rhythm chording, and an Infinity Single3 single-coil with an alnico magnet for traditional sounds with high output.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

NEW REVIEW - Incredible Guitar

This Guitar is just excellent... The distortion is just perfect for songs of metal bands like Metallica and Bullet for my Valentine, principally and other bands like Iron Maiden, Pantera, Disturbed, Slipknot... It's great for pinch and artificial harmonics and it almost never looses it's tuning. I had to choose between this one and an Epiphone Les Paul Studio and then I didn't know if a made the right dessision, now I'm sure I did... This is a guitar that you con have for a long time without having any trouble... I recommend it a lot if you play heavy music.

NEW REVIEW - Just had to have it

I sing in a band and decided I wanted to learn some basic chords to play while on stage. Went to GC and saw this guitar and had to have it. Gorgeous, tough looking. Felt better to hold than the others. Salesman tried to get me to get something more simple to tune since I was a beginner but I wanted this one. Tuning has been pretty simple and stays tuned very well. All the experienced players I hang around love it! Can't wait till I can make it scream.

NEW REVIEW - great sound

i traded in my BC Rich Warbeast for this guitar and made a great choice. This guitar is much more balanced and the low profile Edge bridge is better than the Original Floyd Rose. The only problem i had was that when i was first tuning it, the bridge leaned forward and every string went flat. all i had to do was open up the back and tighten the springs. The Infinity 4 bridge pickup has a great distorted sound while the Infinity 3 single coil gives off a cleaner sound for a great variety of sounds from one guitar. Overall a great guitar, especially the flat neck, and tuning might be a hassle, but when you lock the nut down, you wont lose tune for a while.

sold on ibanez

I've recently started playing the guitar about 6 months ago, so I'm pretty new. I started on an 8 year old Fender Strat and can play some basic tunes, chords, and some very easy solos. I went into guitarcenter last night and while I was waiting for friend, I picked up this Ibanez RG5, and let me say, I felt like I was reborn. The songs that I learned on the Strat were so much easier to play on the RG5. I often go into guitarcenter and play guitars "unplugged" because I know I'm not very good. But let me say, for the first time, I plugged that RG5 into an amp and played.........really played. I can't explain it, you just have to play this guitar. It's absolutely amazing. It won't make you a rock star overnight, but I'm definitely heading back soon to buy this guitar, because I really think it will make me a better player, faster.

Love at first sight-

Right before Christmas, my girlfriend told me that she was buying me a guitar for Christmas, but she wanted me to pick it out, so as not to choose the wrong one. So I went down to my local Guitar Center to pick one out. I walked in the door, proceded to the guitar section, and then everything faded around me until all I could see was what would be my new RG5EX1. It looked like it had been forged by a gun company, the smooth finish, the detailing on the neck. It looked so sharp I thought it would cut me. I immediately took it down, plugged it into the biggest Line 6 Spyder I could find, and began to play. 1/8th of a second later, I knew it was the one. I have had it for six months now, and it still feels like the first time everytime I open its case and play it. Incidentaly, I also got the Line 6 Spyder, and a Digitech GNX4 that day. Beautiful gifts from a beautiful girl. Now to find a wedding ring, ha ha ha...
