An amazing rocker with a basswood body, Wizard neck, maple fingerboard and tremolo bridge.

The RG is the most recognizable and distinctive guitar in the Ibanez line. Three decades of metal have forged this high-performance machine, honing it for both speed and strength. This RG450XH model has a basswood body and a Wizard III neck shape that offers maximum comfort and speed. Its fingerboard is rosewood with an amazing 30 jumbo frets for giant note bends. It also comes with dual Ibanez INF pickups that are wired to a 5-way switch for a variety of coil combinations and sounds. An Edge-Zero tremolo bridge and black hardware complete the list of hard-rockin' appointments.

Wizard III Maple neck
Ibanez's thin, flat, and fast, yet strong and sturdy, Wizard neck offers unlimited playability for demanding players, and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for wide tonal range.

Infinity Pickups
The Infinity neck pickup provides dynamic sound for chording and rhythm playing, and the bridge pickup provides brightness with warm sound and strong harmonics.

Edge-Zero II Tremolo
Lower profile designed tremolo for playing comfort, and stud lock function for stable tuning.

Extra-Deep Cutaway
An eye-catching extra-deep cutaway allows access to the higher frets effortlessly while retaining the beauty of an authentic RG body shape.

Neck Pickup Simulator
The RG550XH offers the complete flexibility of a H-S-H pickup configuration with a five-way lever switch, enabled by a neck pickup simulator installed within (9V battery operation).

  • The best way to get an extended range guitar in your hands

As reviewed by John Cooper on 5/27/2013

As a violinist and lead guitarist, it always really annoys me when my creativity has to stop at 24 frets. That's why I purchased this guitar a few weeks ago and I have been impressed with this guitar since. The first things I noticed that were different than an RG or S series, is that the neck is extremely thin. A lot thinner than standard Ibanez's. This neck is super easy to shred on, but it retains it's stability. Ibanez knows how to make great necks, and they did a great job with this one. The cutaway on this guitar is huge, and with good reason. It feels weird at first, but it's nothing that you have to change your technique to work with. The pickups on this guitar are very good. They are stock Ibanez pickups, so change them if you wish, but they provide good versatility. The neck pickup simulator works a lot better than I thought it would. It really does feel like a neck pickup, and it provides a lot of warmth. The bridge is very good as well. The ZR trems are easy to work with compared to the edge III, and I enjoy having it. The only thing on this guitar that I think is very bad is the sparkly candy apple red color. It is the only color option for this guitar, and the sparkle is a lot more present than in the picture. I literally have plans down the road to sand off the finish and change it to something better. Nonetheless, this guitar provides something that only few guitars provide, and it's at a very affordable price. It's very well made, has a great sound, and will surely impress you. Make sure you purchase one before it comes off the market!
