  • Good guitar with some problems

As reviewed by Jason Herz on 11/22/2011

This is a good guitar for a beginner. The neck is fast and smooth and the stock pickups are decent for rock and metal. The one I ordered online came with a number of problems. There are a few physical issues with the finish. It's cracked near the 5-way switch because a screw was tightened too much. There was left over buffer compound anywhere there was any kind of whole or indentation. I've got terrible fret buzz pretty much all over the neck, but especially at the first 3 frets. It seems like it never went through QA at the factory or something. It's definitely not setup properly. Overall I'm happy with the guitar, but disappointed it has a number of things I'll need to have fixed.

  • Not too bad for the $$$

As reviewed by cwhite on 11/16/2009

I just picked this guitar on the weekend at my local GC. First off I?m comparing this against two guitars one is an ESP LTD EC-200QM and a Schecter S-1 Elite (with a JB I installed in the bridge). The overall feel of the guitar is the main reason why I purchased it feels amazing for the price. The neck is thin and fast (faster than the other guitars mentioned), the action is nice and low. I do have some fret buzz on the first fret but nothing a tweak here and there can?t fix. I have always been a little hesitant on buying Ibanez because I have heard a lot them falling apart. This was no exception. I brought it home to change the strings on it to thicker ones on and give the guitar a thuro inspection. I don't know why they even have a quality control guy sign these. It was missing a screw for the truss rod cover and ALL the tuners were loose, like almost fall off loose. Other than that everything is good. PUPs - this is the only thing I will swap out (besides getting new tuners) they just have no low end balls they have all the highs you could want there is just no depth to them. Esp puts better pups on their guitars for the same price. Feel/Playability ? 5/5 stars Quality ? 3/5 stars pups ? 3/5 stars
