The Ibanez K7APEX2 7-sring Guitar is the best of the best of the 7-sting guitars that I have played. The guitar comes with DiMarzio pickups that gives ot a great clear sound. It is also a really lite wieght gutiar great for playing for a long while. The guitar also stay in tune really well. I like to play it hard for long periods of time and it still stays in tune. The is guitar is really worth the money.
this guitar can do almost anything, the only thing that could possibly make it any better would be a tremelo. but this guitar beats my fenders and gibsons HANDS DOWN. if you dont own it buy it!!!!!
I've been playing 6-string now for well over a decade and decided to try a 7-string. I have to say, this guitar really is a great 7-string for someone who doesn't want to "skimp out" but also doesn't want to completely break the bank over a new type of instrument that they aren't sure if they'll end up playing a whole lot. I have been using the guitar through a Mesa Triple Rectifier head into a 4x12 Recto Cab. It sounds amazing! Defintely a much "darker" sound than the Fender Jag HH that I normally play through it. Something I had to play with a bit was the string guage. From the start, I had full intentions on tuning mine in drop-A (AEADGBE). Ernie Ball Super Slinkys are perfect for the "normal" 6 strings, but the 7th string required a .56 guage string in order to be dropped down to A. If you plan on leaving the 7th string as a B, then the .52 lighter guage string will be fine. Even with the .56 on the 7th string, if I play an open power chord on the lowest 3 strings (AEA), it ends up sounding extremely "muddy" and the notes are a bit unclear. You'll probably have that with ANY guitar tuned that low though. The guitar plays very well. The Ibanez necks are a bit different than your standard Gibsons and Fenders, but after a few minutes you get used to it and really come to like it. It's been years since I've owned an Ibanez RG and I'd almost forgotten how thin and "fast" their necks feel under your hand. I love the "custom" features that come on the guitar. No tone knob, who needs it? And the input jack moved to about 2 inches from the bottom strap hook. It helps to keeps the instrument cable out of the way for you. Neither of these things really "MAKE" the guitar, but they're nice added touches. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the instrument. I think it's a great guitar to familiarize yourself with 7-string playing, as well as a damn-near professional level instrument. It'd be a great choice for a player of any experience level. I decided to give the guitar 5 Stars because, although I can't say it's the BEST guitar ever, I really can't imagine what I could possibly change to make it any better in my own eyes.
