Joe's choice, nice choice!
I have played this guitar few years ago, at a music store in Boston. You might think the looking isn't that attractive, but hey! Play it, you will find it really hot! Just like its color, JS 1200 has a really hot solo tone, it is aggressive, and it can also be gentle.
I had compared this guitar to some other Ibanez guitars such as JEM 7V, AT300, and even JS2000. I found out one thing about JS 1200 is that the feeling of the grip is so great that even though I have small hands, I don't have any problem playing it. It is smooth! The finger board is awesome. JS1200 is a dynamic guitar; it is nice to play fusion, Jazz, blues, and rock.
What I really like about JS1200 is the neck pick-up, PAF Joe pick-up and the edge pro system. If you are looking for this guitar but worrying about the price, don't wait! Because it is really a good choice!

Ibanez JS1200
This is Joe Satriani's custom Ibanez, which includes two amazing sounding humbuckers, the lightning fast neck which has come to be expected from Ibanez, and a coil tap for that bluesy sound. This guitar plays great and sounds even better, if you are a Joe Satriani fan and have money to spare check out a JS1200.

An Amazing Guitar
I first played this guitar in the store and was very impressed. The action is smooth and fast and the humbuckers have a great sound. If you need to change the tone, you can coil tap. The body is very thin and light yet incredibly resonant. The neck is fast and thin and this guitar is just all around very streamlined and meant for lots of play time.

Awesome Guitar!
I'm an intermediate guitar player but seemed to notice an immediate increase in fluidness of my solos and scales when I got mine. It's not too heavy so you can rock out for quite a while and has awesome tone. My biggest gripe about it is that it's really easy to accidently bend the high e off the neck, it's kinda a pain to take out of standard or drop d tuning and its a little uncomfortable to sit down and play with. But since I usually play in standard and you cant REALLY rock unless you're standing up its perfect for me!

what a guitar
I got the js1200 as a birthday gift last year and I think it was the best gift i ever had. The neck is super fast, the playability is excellent, and the pickups sound unbelievable. In this range of money I would strongly suggest this guitar. The only thing that kind of gets anoiying is that it is very hard to keep in tune but you can always just take it to a store and get the whole thing setup so it stays great. Otherwise, its great!

Great Versatile Guitar
I've had this guitar for over a year now and play in a dance/rock cover band doing most of the standard 70/80/90's hits. This guitar is so versatile with the coil tap that I can get almost any sound I need from the guitar and a few pedals into a peavey classic 50. Extremely easy to play with low action. Pickups are clear and give a great rock sound. I mainly use the bridge pickup to cut through the mix (as I only use this in a live setting). The only thing I've changed on the guitar is I blocked the tremolo to dive only. My only issue really is some of the low frets are a stretch for my hands. Prior to this I played a peavey wolfgang but have since moved that to my backup and exclusively use the JS1200. It is just a blast to play and I have a hard time putting it down. So I recommend going and trying it out especially if you cover a wide range of genres.

Satriani Ibanez
This guitar is pretty good. I just tried it out today, and I did like it. It really does work best with blues and classic rock, which really isn't the kind of music i play a lot. The other flaw I noticed was that occasionally during solos, the bottom E string bends off the fretboard pretty easily, even when you're not bending it. but otherwise, it's a pretty good guitar.

Really good but I like something more
This is an awesome guitar. Things that can be hard to play are easy with this series. But the body is so small, its almost hard to play sitting down, lol. And I dont like that it doesnt have 24 frets, I know you hardly ever use that fret, but it makes getting to higher notes easier because they are up on the neck. All this being said, I think I prefer my guitar for my particular playing style: an Ibanez RG 350 DX. Pickups are a little rusty but an Evolution changed that.

ok
If you like playing blues and such this a nice guitar the reason i gave it a 4.5 for features is because mainley of the pick ups i like to use E.M.G. pickups on all my guitars but their way to expensive over all this is a nice guitar.
