great starter guitar
This guitar is great for a starter set and i think it is underrated. Some of the stuff that comes with the set like the tuner are junk. Otherwise the guitar and amp are great. Ive played mine for 2 years now and still love it. Its realiable and a great backup guitar or gigs. Great set for a beginner guitarist!

Perfect Starter Pack
This is the best starter guitar money can buy. The amp is good especially if you are just learning to play, and its good for small areas, i use it in my dorm room. If you are choosing between this or a squire strat, i myself along with everyone i have spoken to agree that the Ibanez makes a much better sound and has better pickups than the squire does. So i recommend this to anyone looking for their first guitar.

probably the best starter package out there
I brought the Ibanez IJX40 pack a few years ago. Out of the box, the guitar was set up pretty nicely. The guitar it self has a nice bright and distorted sound. It will last you a long time because it is solidly built. Downsides of the guitar is the neck heel is high, some frets are buzzy, and it does not stay in tune well especially if you use the tremelo a lot. The amp is loud but lacking distortion and treble. The DVD is very useful in the learning process but the rest of the accesories are pooly made. the strap broke in 6 months, cable broke in 3 months, and the picks wore out fast. The tuner and accesory bag are pretty much useless. Overall the pros overshadow the cons which can easily be fixed by buying a few accesories. I have tried the Squire pack and my friend has the Epiphone SG pack. I find that the Ibanez pack is better in value and sound than both those packs.

not bad overall
I will no deny it a Gibson Les Paul is better. However compared to a squier for a begginer it is excellent. Holds tone fairly well. Cord is trash. Git rid of it and the strap. The Ibanez bass jumpstart is the same way. I would recommend it to anyone. Even for a experienced palyer just for practice around the house. Value is unbeatable for the price they charge. For a guitar for the same quality plan on spending aroung 300-500 smackers. Won't be disappointed.
