This was my first semi-expensive bass and its worth every penny. It stays in tune very well and you can get a great sound of it, especially with the bass boost. I've had it for four years and have had no major problems with it except sometimes the pegs get loose, but then again its been four years. I'd say this is a definite buy if your a beginner or intermediate bassist looking for a durable good sounding bass.
I'm a guitar player and I was looking to get a bass, when I came across this gem. I own the blueburst model and it's beautiful, and looks dynamically different depending on the lighting conditions. This bass is great for every style - the neck P pickups provide a very tonal, deep sound, and the J bridge pickup gives you that trebly poppy sound. The J distorts very nicely, and it sounds great with effects too. I love the phat boast, but too much will make your bass sound more like flatulence. I lowered the action, but I had a couple raised frets, those were the only problems I had with this bass.
when I was looking for a bass I was looking at a peavy but was also open to other options. When I walked into guitar center I tried this baby out and when I played just a couple notes and was already blownaway. The sound was so rich and smooth, I bought it a couple days later. I'll start by by giving the pros: sound is awesome and great for playing jazz or rock, the power is AMAZING, obviously with any active bass you'll get more sound but this one has a TON of sound, the neck feels great, the action is smooth and compared to a fender is a whole lot lighter. Cons: none. Put it this way if you're looking at a squier which seems to be the thing these days for beginners, look here at this one because in my opinion I found this to be a lot better bass than a fender. This bass is the BEAST!
