NEW REVIEW - Great starter bass.
I got this bass for my 11 year old son for a starter. I was looking for something that would not be so overbearing as compared to a full size. It is just the right size for him and I, as a guitar player, I have had a lot of fun playing it myself. It has good tones and is easy to play. Craftsmanship (fit) is well done and the red metallic finish is great. The only con on this bass is that there is not a tremendous amount of difference in tones between the j-bass and p-bass pickups, but you can't expect too much for the price. If you are looking for an intro bass or one that is easy to play you can't beat this for the price. Great for beginners, I highly recommend it.

Small bass - large sound
A little rough around the edges but overall a great bass. The neck and fretboard were very, very dry feeling until I used mineral oil (baby oil) to give them a better feel. This bass has a true low sound on the neck pick up ( p-bass style split). At a recent jam session, someone recorded us with a one point stereo mic and the bass was so strong that it blew out the recording. Guess I will have to play softer.
Love the even shorter short scale of 28.6" Guitar licks and scales transfer over much easier, as I am playing both guitar and bass regularly at the moment.

Ibanez's Micro Bass Guitar
I was truly amazed at how nice this guitar is and plays. I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I wanted to get my kids into playing a stringed instrument. My boys are ages 8,10 & 12.
All three have been able to pick it up and start playing...(with a little instructional help from me) For the money, this guitar is excellent. I like it so much that I am considering buying one for my studio to record with. The sound is great and the best part about it is that you can tune it. In my experience, you get what you pay for. I have looked at purchasing 6 string micro guitars in the past and never bought any because the intonation was always off. I could never tune them up out of the box. I would have to spend additional money to have it set up properly or do it myself. The Micro Bass by Ibanez sounds great right out of the box. My boys are loving it.

Great for Beginners
I am just a beginner with the electric bass guitar and had a 34" model. I struggled with this one due to its weight and distances between the frets. With the short scale bass guitar, there is a significant difference in weight as and I find the distances between the frets suitable for my relatively small hands and short fingers. I do no have any hesitation in recommending this bass to beginners like me. This could be my permanent bass guitar.

Shocking Little Thing
I own two other Basses (Mid 90's Fender P Bass & an Ibanez SR500) and my daughter has been wanting to learn to play as well so I thought it was time to find her one. I did a ton of research on short scale basses and was amazed @ how good this little Mikro sounded & played. I liked it so much I am considering getting one for myself just to goof off on. In my humble opinion - whether you have been playing for a long time, are entry level or just need a fun little short scale - you just can't go wrong with this one. Although I enjoy Fender's stuff - the more I play the IBanez brand of Bass - the more I love them. You just can't go wrong with the action, tone & price of this little guy!!!

Would like to see more Short Scale
I have short arms and small hands. I've been playing 6 string guitars for 44 years. I was asked to step up and try bass guitar at my church. The first thing I noticed was how much longer they were and uncomfortable for me to play. These short scale bass guitars are the same length as the 6 string guitars. Great idea and this particular model is great for a beginner like myself. I would like to see more short scale models manufactured.
