It feartures the Phat II bass boost circuit, and 2 Powersound pickups—a split-coil and a single-coil—give it an authoritative presence in the groove. And the Phat II bass boost makes it

Great "beginner" bass...
This bass is a very good quality bass for beginners. This was my first bass and I bought it about 2 years ago. It is durable and i especially like that the Ibanez GSR200FM has both the P-style and J-style pickups, because it allows you to play more versatile genres. I play anywhere from rock to jazz and this bass along with my fretless, get the job done. This bass is not a great investment for an experienced bassist, but it is the best value out there for beginners. Other basses do not come close.

Perfect For Professional Musician Or Beginner
I just bought this bass a few days ago. I don't play bass guitar as my main instrument. I play a regular 6 string guitar, also an Ibanez - an 1990 Roadstar.
I record at home - with a Digitech GNX4 - and wanted a real bass rather than simulate my Roadstar as a bass thru the GNX4. I loved my Roadstar, so I set out at looking at Ibanez basses. I wanted great performance, sound and quality without paying alot of money. I looked at several Ibanez basses, but the one I was most interested in before even getting to the store was this one - the transparent blue - mostly because of the color. I wanted something different, not just a solid color.
I played several though even some of the other high end Ibanez's including a 6 string Ibanez. I can honestly say that I could not tell an auditory difference between this bass and the $750 Ibanez 6-string. It seems as though they use the same electronics in either cheaper models as they have in their high end models. Keep in mind I didn't try other name brand basses...only Ibanez.
I've been playing now with only picking up my Roadstar a few times for 4 days straight. The playability of this thing is way beyond the worth that I paid for it. It's got a thin neck that's not much thicker than my Roadstar. The neck is nice and smooth. The frets are precisionly placed. You can play two different strings an octave, 2 octaves apart from top to bottom on the fretboard and there isn't any variation in tuning.
The only reason not to buy this bass is because you don't like the color selection, or because you want a 5 or 6 string bass instead. However, choosing an Ibanez bass, no matter what model you decide to get, will have exceptional quality craftsmanship, sound and a smooth playability.

Simply Awesome
This bass is perfect for rock bands such as the one i'm in. It is so easy to slide your fingers up and down this bad boy, and would easily suggest that any bass player, especially at that price

Exellent bass at an even better price
Although the guitar is said to be built fo the heavy rock bassist, you can play just about anything wiht this guitar. I often play at gigs and parties and the Ibanez gsr200fm hasn't let me down yet. This bass is worth the money wether you are just starting of have been playing for a while.

CRAZY BASS!
I won't lie to you. If you buy this bass, you will NOT be disappointed. The pickups growl sickly, slapping and popping comes out nicely. I personally, love treble, as a member of a 3 man band, and this thing delivers. And don't get me started on the finish. Only 2 problems. It smudges extremely easily, so be prepared to wipe the body after every play or so. And also, the strings it come with are HORRIBLE. So change them ASAP. I highly recommend this bass. Sure, it doesn't beat most basses 800$+, but hey, 240 bucks for a great bass? Bring it on!
