  • Awesome Jazz Guitar

As reviewed by Nick on 5/19/2008

I have been playing my GB10 for about a month and I love this guitar. I play as a hobby, my interest is jazz, and I prefer a finger picking style. I had a problem with my previous hollow body sounding dull with flat wound strings and a tendency to be very bassy causing feed back problems. The GB10 solved all of that. It had the features I most wanted - maple body, spruce top, ebony fretboard and floating pick ups. I set it up with D'Addario ECG24 jazz light strings. The articulation on this guitar is incredible. The neck pick up renders the warm woody tone you expect from a jazz guitar. In combination with the bridge pick up you can brighten the tone although I would not use the bridge pick up alone. The highs, mids and lows are very well balanced. It is surprisingly heavy for a hollow body but it lets you know you are holding a quality instrument. The size is very comfortable and the fretboard has an amazing quality feel. The neck is what I call a flattened "C" shape. I find it easier to form those difficult chord positions and soloing is smooth and clear. The GB10 is a joy to play and well worth the investment.

  • Couldn't be happier

As reviewed by steve terhune on 11/29/2013

I wanted a GB in the late 70's when Benson was making it big with Weekend in L.A.. But I was a poor college student. I never suspected that , in addition to that sentimental attachement to the GB, it would also turn out to be a really great instrument. I like it better everytime I play it. Not only does it give me that classic jazz box sound, but it is far less costly and more playable than the Gibsons. More playable, because it has a smaller footprint, and the neck is perfect. I'm not a bulky neck guy. It gets in the way of chords and using my thumb on the 6th string. These guitars have gone up dramatically in the past 10 years- about 50%, and I was lucky to get mine when it was less than $2500. But, I'd pay a lot more for it now that I know how indespensible it is to my guitar life. You won't be disappointed if you like classic sound, design, and the best neck I've ever played.

  • Sweet Guitar

As reviewed by Jeffrey J on 4/8/2008

I love my GB10. It has a sound, a fatness, that only a hollow body can deliver yet it's comfortable to play. It gets a little heavy standing with it for 3 sets. I can that a very smooth warm sound or a brighter sparkle tone. Combining the pickup and then pull out some of one or the other can provide some additional tonal versitality. I
