First let me say that the people complaining about the weight of this bass can go back to their overpriced and under toned Fender twang basses. This bass is a comfortable for weight for anyone(I, for example, am six foot three and weigh a hundred and eighty five pounds) that has enough strength to lug their bass rig to the stage. And as far as the tone goes, this baby is second to none. The thru neck gives you sustain for days, and the Bartolini pickups are in my opinion the best on the market. Compared to all other bass pick ups that only do highs or lows well never both. But blending tones is where she shines. This bass can be warm and low, or high and tight, and anything in between. The eq knobs can give you any range of tone you can imagine, and the volume knob cleans up really well if you dial it back just a bit. I run it into an Ampeg SVT-4 pro anchored to an Ampeg 810e cabinet and can say without a doubt that this lovely lady will bring the pain when called upon to do so. I play a little bit of everything, but my main styles are Metal(hail true metal!), classic rock, jazz, blues, hard rock, and progressive rock. I've gigged with this bass for a while now(a yearish), and it's never given me any issue what so ever(no matter how long the gig was). Every band I've gigged with has loved this bass, and said that I looked under dressed to be playing it. That's the last point I'll make, and that is how much beauty this bass has on the surface as well. The moment I opened the box(I ordered her online) I was astounded at it's beauty. Perfect action, perfect neck, perfect sound. I had played the older models, and loved them all, but this one really took my breath away all around. So over all (10 point system) Looks//10 assembly//10 playability//10 durability//10 and sound//11

  • Perfect All-Round Bass Guitar

As reviewed by Bejo on 6/1/2011

I bought this bass guitar almost a month ago. This sounded very good compared to Ibanez Soundgear 7xx which is on the same price range. This one has more depth and stronger punch especially with the Bartolini pups. Other reviewers already give so much positive information about this bass; note however that the Bartolini eq is not as perfect as I expected. The bass guitar was lacking mid sound that makes it sound well-round and that is most likely because of the eq. A little trick that I did is to cut bass and treble a little bit and crank up the mid all the way up and that gives me the sound that I was looking for.

  • Heavy Sound, Heavy Weight

As reviewed by Jeff on 6/4/2010

Let me just say this right now, this bass is a beast. The sustain is amazing, on my peavey spyder amp I can get away with notes that last roughly a minute. Please note that it does weigh a lot, so I would recommend that you get a comfy strap, even if it does look like something Miss Daisy would have. I wouldn't recommend this bass to a player who is just starting out, but it is worth looking into if you've been playing for a few years. If you're lookin for a hardcore bass to use for practically any type music, this bass would be your best bet.
