      Ibanez AR325 Electric Guitar (H86346)
Availability:

A symmetrical double-cutaway body with a Figured Bubunga top, Super 58 pickups and the Tri-sound switching system.

Anyone who knows their guitar history will tell you: Ibanez spent much of the 1970s in the role of the prodigious student—building copies that exceeded the quality of the originals. They’d proven themselves quite capable, but would they ever make their own distinctive contribution to the guitar pantheon? The Artist proved Ibanez was hell-bent on standing shoulder to shoulder with the industry’s veterans.

Made of mahogany, just like the classics, the AR325 Artist’s symmetrical double-cutaway body style was a first in the production guitar world. But Ibanez’s biggest leap forward will continue to be appreciated by today’s player: the tri-tone switching system—a unique configuration that opens up the number of pickup/tone possibilities. But no matter what the setting, the Super 58s pack this axe with rich tonal palette. Gorgeous old school pearl/abalone block inlays make for a path back to one of rock’s most dynamic chapters.

True story. Went through a number of Les Pauls looking for magic. There was always something I did not like. I was a big fan of PRS guitars with my band. I started to play solo and I was looking for a different "voice". I played this model and it was close but no cigar. Tried another L. P. and that had quality issues. Bought the Ibanez, took it home and set it with 11s. It has a fantastic sound. Very versatile with the tri-sound. Super 58 pickups are amazing. Not quite as thick as a Gibson but more focused. They are a medium output humbucker so get your extreme gain from another source. The neck is full but well tapered with great access to the upper frets. Damn near as good as the older ones with a more modern voice. Finish is super and durable. Once it settles I will switch to 10s. Get over your Gibson obsession and try one of these!

  • Bluesy tone!

As reviewed by GREG PREDMORE on 12/1/2012

I've always played Ibanez guitars. I wanted a hard tail to force myself into vibrato without the wammy bar. That being said, the pickups sound great and the finish is beautiful. This is a flawless guitar right down to the neck. I've always said that buying a guitar is all about the neck. If it's not good then the guitar isn't good. No buzz at all here. The coil tapping adds some very useable tones too. This is a great guitar!

  • Amazing

As reviewed by MARCO MUIRETTA on 11/3/2012

This guitar is as every bit as good as the originals that were made in Japan. The only thing I did not like was that the neck seemed narrow from side to side. The tritone switched were way cool as well and the fit and finish flawless. Played through the new Marshall DSL16C this is a killer axe!
