I ordered this guitar during the 4th of July sale.
I was tempted to buy a $200 range because I needed to budget. But I followed some advice - buying the cheaper guitar may not be worth it in the end.
I'm satisfied with this guitar. I'm a beginner and I found the on board tuner extremely helpful (since I'm not good enough to tune it by ear).
The gloss and workman ship on this guitar is nice. I'm satisfied with the sound it makes. To me it sounds better than the Fender CD100 Left-Handed (but this could be because of my taste). I think this guitar has better highs and lows. I find the tone suitable to play a lot of alternative songs like Under the Bridge, and maybe some Incubus song - if I get good enough.
It was worth every dollar.
Con: this guitar has a strange shape and may not fit the majority of dreadnaught cases out there - this is due to the fatter bottom and thin top. The contour is much more drastic. It might make an important impact on the way you hold this guitar and how comfortable you feel.
I can't wait to get good enough to play something good, then hook it up to an amp.
I have been playing for a few years and know what a good acoustic should sound like. I have owned Alvarezs, Takamines, Washburns, etc. I recently received this guitar as a gift. It is not the kind of guitar I would buy for myself considering I generally stay away from Ibanez acoustics because I have always found their sound and playability sub-par.
The first thing that I noticed about this guitar was the extremely high action (which was promptly fixed through a professional setup and is now very playable). The second thing I noticed was the acoustic sound-very flat and one dimensional, with very little of the brightness that I generally would see in a spruce top acoustic guitar. I thought maybe this was a byproduct of the strings but after a set up and string change this is still an issue. When I am playing at home I generally reach for my Alvarez when I'm seeking a more satisfying acoustic sound. The third thing that I noticed is that the tuners are garbage, I am constantly having to retune this guitar. You can hear it go out of tune while playing it. I plan to change out the tuenrs ASAP. I have owned far cheaper guitars that have stayed in tune longer.
HOWEVER, I hooked up this guitar to my church's PA and I could not believe the sound! Wow! This guitar was truly built to be played through an amp or pa because it comes alive. I now use this guitar everytime I play at church or a plugged venue.
If you are looking for a good lefty acoustic to play live in a church or coffee shop setting this may be a good choice after a setup and change of tuners.
After a long hiatus from playing guitar, this is my first in years. I have to admit that the sound is a bit high in action. But otherwise a good deal, especially when it comes to price. The onboard electronics could be perhaps a bit better with their placement. I have tripped the onboard tuner several times. The onboard tuner is a nice option, but I leave the final tuning to my clip-on zoid. The gloss finish is nice, and I have the Dark violet sunburst model. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with this model. I would probably buy a higher priced model down the road but until then, this is the guitar for me.
