Overview

The Decimator G String is a noise reduction pedal that delivers performance like that of the renowned ISP Decimator ProRackG. The Decimator G String provides a totally independent channel of sound reduction that can be inserted into a series effects loop or after a preamp section with the advantage of having the Decimator level detectors track the guitar signal directly.

With the G String pedal you can set the threshold and no matter what level of noise the Decimator will track perfectly without any side effects. And the amazing thing is that you can switch from high gain to your clean channel and never have to switch the Decimator G String off due to the threshold being set too high. It's simply transparent.

The noise reducing pedal has an input to connect a guitar directly and a buffered output signal to feed the front of a guitar rig directly while providing a separate audio channel of Decimator that can be inserted in the signal chain of any guitar rig. You can insert any other pedals between the output of the Decimator G String and the input of your guitar amplifier. This allows the Decimator G String pedal to remove any level of noise you may have even with overdrive pedals at the front end of the amp.

Decent, but ended up returning

By steve raab

from minneapolis, mn

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

solid build and good function. It allows set-up purely in front of amp or half in front and half in loop. In loop, however, I couldn't get it to play nice without adding noise artifacts. I found it worked well, but because dialing the noise reduction decreased sustain a touch too much for my liking, I decided to take other noise reducing actions (better cables, different tubes etc..) instead.

Take That Tube Hiss/Hum.. You're Out Of Here!!!

By SAVERIO TORQUATO

from Los Gatos, California

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

With the tube amps comes the hiss which I cannot stand and the G String Decimator takes care of the hiss and noise that the tube gremlins love to make. Cranked or at low volumes tube hum gone gone gone. I use a Fender Supersonic 22 watt and it hums like any other amp that?s tube. Seems like most people do not get annoyed by the tube hum/noise I?ve noticed but it drives me nuts. I highly recommended this pedal if you are like me and have no tolerance for the tube hum/hiss. The pedal does have a slight catch up thing it does when cutting out the noise. This is most prevalent at the end of notes and chords you let ring out but I can live with that. I tried the rack mount version and I did not see any difference and thought the pedal worked better. I was told by ISP they are the same in essence and work off the same principle. Especially when playing my Epiphone Swingster or Gretsch Silver Falcon with a hollowbody the G String is a must have. I run mine about 11:00 o?clock and it does not squash out the tone. It did take me a few minutes to figure out the diagram little instruction piece of paper that ISP includes with the pedal. Its essentially simple but rocket science for me, although once I got it connected through the front of the amp and through your effects chain, no problem you?ll understand as soon as you get it all hooked up. You are basically running through the front of the amp which the G String uses to track your playing and then the pedal also runs through the effects loop, so you?ll have it last in your effects chain. Plays nice with my Ibanez AD9 delay no tone loss. I?ve tried other manufactures that claim to do the same thing but the ISP is the best one on the market hands down!

Decimator

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

Everything fine with shipment; pedal works great. Not happy that Guitar Center charged my sales tax that resulted in me paying a higher price than Musicians Friend.

The best noise suppressor out there!

By MIKE AGUILAR

from Costa Mesa, CA

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have tried several noise suppressors, from the BOSS NS-2 (Not bad), to the MXR Smart Gate (Not bad), to the Rocktron Hush (Not good), but because I have too many dang pedals on my freaking board, ultimately either my tone was somewhat choked off or I had to put up with some noise. That is until I finally decided to spring for the Decimator G String. This pedal is not cheap but it is worth every penny as far as I'm concerned. And the creme-de-la-creme is my tone doesn't suffer at all! This thing is built like a tank, Is uber simple to set up (1 knob) and If you can afford it, don't hesitate, get one! You won't be sorry. The only thing I miss that only the BOSS NS-2 has is the power-out jack which enables you to daisy-chain the power supply off of it. If ISP ever upgrades the G string to include this I will be buying another one of these gems in a heartbeat.

Perfect For High-Gain Playing!

By Nick

from Tempe, AZ

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I needed a noise reduction unit for my rig since I joined a metal band, so I got the ISP G-String Decimator pedal. It's killer! Keeps my rig entirely quiet. The "GTR IN/GTR OUT" works exactly like its supposed to; it tracks what your guitar is doing to be later used in the reduction circuit. The knob is very sensitive but it isn't hard to dial in the sweet spot you need. Beyond the hook-up hoopla, it's simple, powerful, and won't kill your tone or your staccato.

The best noise reduction pedal on the market!!...Bar none!

By Dusty Rhoads

from Salt Lake, Utah

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is AWESOME! I hooked 3 distortion pedals up and turned on all. (So much unwanted noise/feedback playing or not)hooked up the ISP G-string pedal, turned the knob a little, and like magic total silence!! And I had distortion sounds I never heard before, from being able to combine the diffrent pedals all together at once. Something I have never been able to do until now, with this wonderful pedal. And the non gated technology is great! sustain on the long bending notes and quick stop on the fast chunking with with no cut off. Also does not change your original tone or affect the delay effects delay. The way you hook it up is a little weird, but the thing works like no other noise gate on the market! Thanks for an awesome pedal...

Finally, a noise reduction pedal that doesn't kill my tone.

By Tony

from Austin, TX

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

My live rig is a Mesa Triple Reco (and active EMG pickups) where I mainly use channele 3, modern with lots of gain and plenty of presence which always meant I had to deal with feedback. The noise gate on my effects processor never could cut it without sacraficing the pefect tone my amp has. The Decimator finally solved the problems... live, all I do is plug it in, crank up my amp, and dial in the knob until the feeback/hiss disappears. It's worked at ever venue, large and small, and with the dynamic envelope, I don't loose it when I change effects or gain levels. It's a little bit more pricey, but well worth it. I've found for those times when I actually want to mic my cabinet while recording, it eliminates that buzz or hiss that I have to edit out later. Both live and in recording, you can't beat this pedal. I know, I've tried them all.

satisfied user

By Dan Kolata

Comments about ISP Technologies Decimator G String Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

Currently using standard Decimator pedal. I run a 6505+ with some chorus and delay . I was impressed how it handled the feed back and high gian hiss from my amp. Befor puchasing i went over many reviews , and found the pedal to stand up to everything its reviewed to be. well worth the money. I would advise anyone purchasing one to view ISP,s selection to best suit ones needs.I had learned about the pro rack G after i bought the decimator, which the pro rack can handle both channels on my rig. Set the treshold for each channel and jamm without the niose and hum Isp Rocks!!!
