Perfect for noisy guitars or effects chains.

ISP Technologies introduces the Decimator II, second generation of the Decimator Noise reduction. The Decimator II includes improved performance and innovations so unique that it is covered under two new patents pending for these new improvements.

The Decimator II also features improvements in the expander tracking with the new Linearized Time Vector Processing. This novel improvement provides a more linear release time-constant response for the exponential release curve of the downward expander. While the expander is exponentially increasing expansion and dynamically changing its response to fit the envelope of the input signal, the release response remains linear over a given time period. This increases the smoothness of the release response of the expander and provides the most transparent release response of any noise reduction system available and virtually eliminates any release ripple for incredibly smooth decay of longer sustained notes.

  • Pretty good

As reviewed by RYAN RAMSEY on 11/26/2013

Firstly, i love Boss pedals i know there are several pedals that are way better but i really like my Boss pedals. unfortunately Boss pedals are famous for the unpleasant hiss they put out... well i got this pedal because it has a single knob and the department manager recommended it(he's yet to let me down) over the NS-2, and frankly it does the job very well. it is built like a tank, and you will tell by the weight when you pick this thing up. i do feel i'v lost some sustain but all-in-all this pedal will not let you down.

  • KILLS the noise, not the sound

As reviewed by John Graves on 10/7/2013

This thing is incredible. I recently bought the $2000 Frank Zappa Roxy SG & although I love it, boy is it noisy! In fact, I was about to return it until I decided to try & find a solution to the noise. Someone from GC suggested this pedal & after turning it on, I am sold. It absolutely kills the noise dead. The knob on the front allows you to adjust the setting for the gate & yes you can overdo it if you crank it all the way up. But, at less than halfway up all my noise was gone & their claim of new technology allowing a nice, smooth taper of sound is 100% true. Good sustain possible without that gated clamp at the end. I can't tell any difference in sound quality whatsoever. Can't brag on this thing enough. I'm sure the rack unit version is even better, but for the price I am very happy. Wish I had gotten one of these a long time ago. The 60 cycle hum is a thing of the past.

  • Best noise reduction solution

As reviewed by BENJAMIN MCELROY on 2/3/2014

I was very skeptical at first as I have had unfavorable results using noise gates or other noise reducers in the past. This thing blows every thing else I've used away. I am somewhat of a tone chaser and gear freak and I assure you, once set, this thing does not hinder your tone in any way. If anything it makes your tone more clear. To further under stand this you must know where the noise comes from in the first place. If you have decent to boutique gear, which would warrant spending this much on noise reduction, the noise you hear comes undoubtedly from your guitar. This noise is then amplified by your other effects and amp, especially if you use a compressor. You should put this pedal as far in front of your signal chain as possible, I.e. Guitar-tuner-noise reducer-other effects....or guitar-tuner-compressor-noise reducer-other effects. This will substantially limit the noise in your tone. That in mind you should set this pedal pretty mildly. I set mine for example, with my strat. I start off with my whole pedal board powered up but all effects off, except for the noise reducer, and my amp at gigging volume (with guitar volume maxed out). Start with the noise reducer all the way down and turn it up very slowly. Keep turning it up until the 60 cycle hum is gone but you're tone has not changed and you are done (mine is set to about 10 o'clock). Take a few minutes on each setting as you turn it up trying to set the reducer as low as possible. If you place this pedal after any overdrive/distortion effects or set on an extreme setting you will undoubtedly loose tone. It is simply not designed to be used that way. I have an overdrive, an array of heavy fuzz pedals, and many other analog boutique effects and this has pretty much eliminated any noise and has made my tone clear as a bell. I was astonished the first time I used it. This is a great product for what it is and I would buy again if broken. It does not cut sustain short or hinder feedback. If anything it only makes the feedback even more controllable. I use my strat, es-335, and gretsch full-hollow all with the same setting on the noise reducer and it is fantastic. Buy one you will not regret it.
