Overview

The Miroslav Philharmonik orchestra workstation from IK Multimedia combines the legendary Miroslav Orchestral and Choir sample collection masterpieces with a dedicated virtual instrument plug-in specifically tailored toward classical sounds and arrangements.

Miroslav orchestral samples are some of the most playable and inspiring sounds ever produced for symphonic arrangements and composition. They've set the atmosphere of hundreds of movies and productions and have become the tool of choice for many Oscar winning composers.

This sound collection contains some of the most beautiful and lush sounding orchestral samples ever recorded, with plenty of feeling and emotion. Miroslav was able to bring out the rich character of symphonic music with a special sound that is unique and powerfully expressive.

For incredible acoustic realism, the string, brass, and woodwind sections have been captured in the proper acoustic orchestral positions inside one of the world's most famous symphony halls, Prague's Dvorák Symphony Hall. No need for simulation with panning, just call up the elements of the orchestra and instantly sound like a symphony. These sounds have a texture, warmth, and beauty that is unique in the sample world.

The Miroslav Philharmonik's virtual orchestra plug-in is based on an enhanced version of the SampleTank workstation architecture, offering 16 multitimbral parts, with full control over the tempo and pitch of the sounds. Each of the 16 multitimbral parts can be loaded by selecting one of more than 1,300 orchestral instruments included in Philharmonik. All of the virtual instruments can be easily found in neatly organized folders within the browser window.

The multitimbral parts can also be saved as combi ensembles, allowing you to load an entire orchestral set with one click. Additionally, each part also offers up to 50 sound-shaping controls, for maximum flexibility over sound sculpture.

The IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik also offers a master effects section with individual parts send capability. These can also be selected among the 20 built-in effects. Another unique feature is the inclusion of a high-quality master reverb in its list of 20 effects, with an easy-to-use version of IK's Classik Studio Reverb. Perfect for obtaining that smooth orchestra sound, are the warmth of the analog EQ and compressors derived from IK's award-winning T-RackS and AmpliTube.

Miroslav Philharmonik workstation features a search function, full MIDI controls of the parameters, zone editing, multiple outputs, and more.

Nice Sounds For the Price

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

This Software had nice French Horn, Flute, Oboe, and Bassoon sounds. Strings are a bit weak. Choir is unconvincing at best. You can't find better woodwind and brass FOR THE PRICE. The synth uses very little processing power and memory so you can run other plug-ins with ease. The software has wanted me to register about 4 different times even though I already had done so. Frustrating and worthless Customer Support.

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

I write music to go on top of video and just scored my first project with this today. Although I have no experience with other string plugins this product is far superior to the stock logic pro orchestral sounds. I am also very impressed with the percussion. I thought the logic orchestral drums were decent but has way more variety and better sounds.

Im surprised it was so so inexpensive. leave it to the russians I guess to make good quality inexpensive programs haha. Most other string programs seem to cost in excess of 300.

The installation was no problem if you follow the directions but you need to get the latest update on the companies website.
It also took me all about 5 minutes to figure out the user interface and i was ready to compose and produced a high quality orchestral piece I will definitely use for my reel.

    Not my favorite

    By the kicka$$er

    from Nashville, TN

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

Honestly, I thought that Philharmonik was just an okay product. It really lacks the warmth and roundness that I was looking for. EastWest Symphonic is much better overall if you have the money. One thing that I did quite like about Philharmonik is its simplistic user interface. It is very easy to use and is not a resource hog, so if you're on a budget and don't have a high-powered computer, then Philharmonik might be for you; otherwise, it's really not my favorite.

    Customer service/ tech support.

    By Brandon

    from San Antonio

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

This plug in sounds good, but the xpand2 plugin in pro tools is almost just as good. Once you buy this product you are basically on your own with it, as Ik multimedia has the worst tech support and customer service that I have ever come across in my entire life. I have purchased many high dollar plugins knowing that at least I dont have to stress myself out when I have an issue, I can always contact tech support. Ik multimedia tech support seems to not care once you have purchased their product, buyers beware.

Very good in a lot of ways.

    By Larry Mal

    from Saint Louis

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

This is a great if uneven package. Some of the sounds are fantastic- especially the strings, which have a great "woody" quality to them. I don't mean just the sections, but the solo cello and viola especially shine here. I like to use a string section and add one or two solo instruments to fatten it up as well, that is, the cellos with a couple of solo cellos added to it. Some of the samples, namely the piano, are weak. The choir is sort of fun, but it would be hard to imagine when one would use it, even though I actually have. The horns and everything else are good. It comes with a good reverb built in, if you don't already have a convolution type of your own. There is a certain amount built in, just to let you know- you won't get it exactly dry if you want to.Are there better? Sure. But for the price, this is a great way to get started with MIDI based orchestral sounds, and the quality of the strings will make sure that you probably will have use for it even when you move on to the bigger EastWest things or whatever you end up with.

    Great Product

    By Jeff -.dGsC

    from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

The sounds are incredible, it is amazingly easy to use, the stand-alone player works brilliantly, and it can be used as a plug-in with ProTools, Garageband, Logic, and many other programs. Each instrument has great playability and feel, with plenty of options for tweaking sound, as well as delay/reverb etc. I'm currently composing and recording the score for a play, and this has made my work so much easier, as well as inspired creativity. At the price this is easily the BEST value on the market right now.

One of the best Software Instuments available

    By H

    from Tucson, AZ

Comments about IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik Orchestra Virtual Instrument Workstation:

I have been using IK MPO for quite a while - mostly for film scores - and I can only confirm the quality and easiness of use that is advertised by the company. The samples are beautiful; they sound lush and very cinematic. It does take some time to screen and find the appropriate sounds, but that is the beauty of any software based instrument, isn't? Some of the solo instruments are slightly difficult to work with, such as solo violins; nevertheless, you can always find a good compromise solution. There is a "Be Carefull" sign though: make sure your computer has a substential amount of RAM installed, and you are running a stable sequencer (preferably Logic on a Mac). You could always try the disk streaming if you are running your sounds from a different drive... I highly recommend this library, especially for computer based film scoring projects.
