Overview

This special ARC System crossgrade for IK Multimedia software owners will save you a great deal of money on the revolutionary Advanced Room Correction System, a breakthrough in studio sound equalization technology.

In the world of music recording, the combination of monitoring speakers and room acoustics can be the biggest bane to accurate sound. Instead of hearing the music you are producing, it actually gets distorted by the partial absorption of output reflected in the walls, ceilings, furniture, and surrounding objects. With many DAW home recording studio situations, this is especially troubling, until the arrival of the ARC System

IK Multimedia and sound equalization solution leader, Audyessy, have teamed up to give you the first room correction system in a plug-in form for DAW studios, the ARC System. What is it? Using Audessey's MultEQ technology, the included calibrated measurement microphone, measurement software, and multi-platform correction plug-in measures acoustical information throughout the listening area of your recording studio. ARC basically sniffs out the sweet spots and dead areas. It combines this collected information and then corrects both time and frequency response problems, so you'll get a clearer, more reliable representation of your musical mix. With the ARC System, the improvement on your studio sound will be fairly instant and can be improved anytime as things are moved and more bodies or instruments are brought in. Finally, you can tune your room and trust that what your hearing is what you're getting. This means faster recording schedules, more honest mixes, and superior mastering all the way around.

Indispensable

By Andy Mawson

from Cumberland RI

Comments about IK Multimedia ARC Advanced Room Correction System Crossgrade:

So I live in a one bedroom apartment where acoustics were clearly not a priority in the architects mind. I have struggled for a year to create mixes of my songs that would sound the same when I played them on my ipod, in my car or on my boombox -- failure every time -- uncontrollable boominess and mud -- indistinct top and bottom ends -- until now! ARC is the answer. In an hour or so I'd figured out and executed the initial measurements, loaded the plugin on an existing track and immediately the track was transformed. Now I can spend my time and energy on my craft, not trying to create a descent basic mix. I don't know how I got by without it. You have to buy this thing if any of the foregoing describes your problems too. Another advantage -- once I had ARC loaded on a track, I found I could strip out ninety percent of my EQ, amp and compression plugins that I had previously used in a desperate attempt to get a descent mix - which makes for cleaner, purer more manageable mixes and ARC will pay for itself in the cost of the other plugins you no longer have to buy. A couple of tips: Once you get used to executing the room treatment process, do it again with more measurements and more precision. I put numbered post-it notes on the floor where I wanted to take the measurements and made sure the microphone was directly over that spot before taking the measurement. Adding the additional measurements really does improve the results. Also don't forget you have to repeat the process for each pair of monitors you use.

Helps My Mixes Sound Better Everywhere

By Mel

from Tulsa, OK

Comments about IK Multimedia ARC Advanced Room Correction System Crossgrade:

For years, in spite of the investment I had made in reputable, high-quality studio monitors, my mixes rarely translated well when played on other systems. I would mix for hours in my studio until I achieved a sound that I thought was truly bombastic, only to listen to the mix on another playback system and be totally disappointed. It didn't make any difference where I listened to my mixes...on a boombox,in a car, on a home stereo, on computer speakes, even in other studios...they never sounded much like what I had heard in my personal studio. One day I read an article about IK Multimedia's ARC System and decided to give-it-a-go. I'm happy I did. Set up improperly, one might cause more harm than good with ARC, but I was very careful to take measurements in multiple mic positions, just as instructed...and the payoff was huge. With ARC switched in, my monitors sounded more balanced and less muddy. And my mixes, more often than not, began to sound as good on other systems as they did in my own control room. Before ARC, I used to have to second-guess what I was hearing from my monitors and try to compensate for what I thought was happening to the sound in my studio. ARC took out the guesswork. Now, most of what I mix in my studio translates well to other systems. Not ALL systems, but many more than before. Now, when I add treble to a track, I'm doing it because the track needs it, instead of compensating for mud I'm hearing in my listening environment.
