Comments about Humes & Berg 160 Tenor Trombone Bucket Mute:

This mute has a heavier "bucket" sound compared to Jo-Ral's bucket mute but the disadvantage is that it takes more than a couple measures to clip it on the bell whereas a Jo-Ral goes in as quickly as straight or cup mute. I like the H&B's sound better than Jo-Ral, which sounds like a blend of cup and bucket mutes. The fabric covering the mute's inside face is flimsy but I like how it comes with a protective cardboard. That cheese cloth doesn't seem as if it's meant to be replaced by the consumer.

Comments about Humes & Berg 160 Tenor Trombone Bucket Mute:

It took me a long time to find out that there are 3 sizes of mutes (not counting the bass trombone)to accomodate different size bells. The right size mute makes using it much easier rather than bending the supports in and out for different bells.
