Overview

The Hughes and Kettner TubeMeister 36 guitar amplifier head offers independent gain and master knobs, as well as switchable FX Loop. In addition, Mr. Hughes and Mr. Kettner built in a MIDI system to access the three channels, FX loop and onboard reverb. It can even select the power stages of the integrated power soak (36W, 18W, 5W, 1W and Speaker Off)!

The revolutionary MIDI-controlled power soak can do some wild voicing tricks. Tap its full dynamic range by running the Clean channel at 36W and switch over to the Crunch channel in 5W mode with the Master knob wide open to get good and grungy with some grinding rhythm. Or you could run the Lead channel at 18W for some high-gain riffage and switch over in a flash to the full 36W for a screaming solo. Meanwhile, the 1W option brings the sound of the big stage into your own four walls, without any tonal compromises.

The built-in RED BOX feeds preamp and true power amp tone straight to a stage or studio mixing console. It authentically emulates the sound of a 4 x 12" cab and delivers a balanced line signal to the Speaker Out for use in rehearsal rooms, on stage, and even to pipe that sweet tube-driven sound straight into the PA. In combination with the power soak's silent recording option (Speaker Off), the RED BOX lets you lay down professional-quality tracks any time day or night. You can even feed the signal to in-ear monitors on stage without having to fuss with a cab or mic.

But that's still not all; there's also the wonderful TSC (Tube Safety Control). It is an automated system that constantly monitors and readjusts the bias to ensure power tubes operate reliably and deliver to-die-for tone, always. With the TSC, swapping tubes couldn't be any easier.

Better than flames out of the exhaust pipes...

By Phil Vachon

from White Plains, NY

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Wow, this has certainly been the single best upgrade I could have done in quite some time. Was having trouble with gigging my '63 Fender Bassman, so I needed to get something reliable and good warranty (H&K - 3 years). The H&K Tubemeister 36W has really put my old amp(s) to shame. Tube sound is smoother and way more adjustable wuth their tone controls. Switching between channels is totally seamless and the level of control of output power, gain per channel is superb. Midi is my new friend and this amp has taken it to the next level. (Tech21 midi moose). I play a '95 Clapton Strat and recently added a 2011 Les Paul Studio. I have played several days & nights at home and two practices with the Pearl Jam cover band I play in, and this amp ROCKS!. Have yet to need 36 Watts, as 18 watts thru 2 x 12" celstions blows the drummer off his seat. All and all, I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with the overall sound. Clean turned up is phat, Crunch turned up hot smokes, and Lead is well, punch their heads in without even going to eleven...

Incredible versatility in a small package

By Peter Woodward

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp has pretty much lived up to everything I hoped it would be. Tons of features but still easy to use and dial in. The cleans are sparkling and between the crunch and lead channels there is a ton of gain on tap that should cover most styles of playing. It is a very modern sounding amp, so it may not be for everyone, but if you like JCM or Dual Rec type gain sounds you will likely be very happy with the Tubemeister.

Gig Worthy

By Roman Landin

from Redlands CA

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Thirty-six watt's of tube power in this thing is plenty for practice and virtually any gig. I was skeptical at first, but when I took this thing to practice and plugged it into my 4x12, I was able to cut through everyone at half volume. I would have to say this is slightly louder than the 50watt solid state head I had been using up to this point. I play in the metal/hardcore genre, and we tend to play at really loud volumes, even louder than what we would use at a venue. So even though it may look small it is definitely powerful enough.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

After much research and consideration I purchased the tubemeister 36, and I could not be happier. This amp has its own sound, it does not sound like a marshall or a mesa as other reviews i've read claimed, it has its own voice and its fantastic. The carrying case is great and makes it really easy to transport for practice or shows. I paired it with the H&K 1x12 and its plenty loud. The direct out recording sounds and works great, it took a bit of tweaking on the EQ but once I found the tone it sounds amazing. If you play lots of cleans, then the 36 watts may not give you the headroom you need, but don't be concerned about the loudness. The three channels gives lots of flexibility for different tones and distortion levels. The amp is very dynamic and is very responsive to your playing, somewhat percussive which allows you to shape your tone by the way you hit and pluck your strings - more so then any other tube amp that I've had (mostly marshalls). Overall the amp is great, it has three channels to shape your sound, is very dynamic, its light and easy to carry, and it looks really cool with the blue light, and if you record in your home late at night like I do the direct recording is a must, its the whole package, I cannot be happier.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The Tubemeister 36 from Hughes & Kettner is a musicians perfect companion. Easy to travel with, packs a sound found in larger amps and very easy to run. The tone is amazing with a chimy rich tone on the 'Clean' channel, the 'Crunch' channel is my favorite with a great drive for Blues, Rock, Power Rock, and even Country Rock. The 'Lead' channel is for the extremist of Heavy Rock or Metal. You an dial it down so that matches the 'Crunch' but with a kick. Love this amp. I've been playing professionally for over 50 years. I have a couple of very favorite amps, and this will join them.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Being a blues rock player, you tend to require a certain tone. After playing the Fender Hotrod and Vox ac15, I wanted something else. Something, not so bassy or muddy. I had only seen videos of the tubemeister but had never played one, myself. I live it. It gives me the cleanest tone and great power. Eventhough, my 1st purchase was slightly defective, I wanted to stay with the brand and exchange it for a new one. I loved it just that much. It gives me all of what I need, infact,I would recommend Hughes and Kettner to anyone.

            Buy it now

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister TM36H 36W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Bought it on line because GC did not have one. I took a chance on it after reading reviews on line. All I can say is HOLY @(*# this thing sounds good. It has a very smooth creamy tube sound. I am running it through a 4x12 Marshall cab. Buy it now the price of these is sure to go up as more play it. I love being able to get that fat tube driven sound at a lower volume and then crank it up when the wife is gone.
