Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This thing looks pretty sweet and can be used with a mixer and headphones for quiet jam sessions. It's my first tube amp so I wanted something I could easily upgrade and mess around with.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I am currently running this amp through a Fender 1X12 speaker cabinet. It sounds very good and puts out a full sound in the clean mode. The overdrive sound is good as well but I think you start to lose a little overhead. This amp might balance out a little better with a 1X10 speaker cabinet. I'm use this amp to practice with and to take to rehearsal. It would probably do fine in a very small venue. All in all a good investment of your money. Plus you can't beat a front panel that glows blue like an old Ampeg portaflex. It is quite fetching.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This is a great little amp. I think it would be hard to use in a live band setting because it just doesn't have the overhead; but for it's intended usage it is outstanding.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Compares favorably to the Blackheart Little Giant, maybe a bit less flexible. Plenty of clean headroom if you need it. I turned up the midrange a bit to bring it out of Marshall-sound into more of a Vox or Fender sound. Sounds best through a 12", and likes pedals.

Comments about Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Bought this little amp head on sale practice in my study. Very happy with the clean sound and to get a dirty sound just push the drive button and hang on. To keep the footprint small I bought a little Randall 8" speaker also on sale.
