This harp lives up to its namesake; it plays almost >too< loud for my tastes! It's my favored harmonica for playing with an acoustic group at the moment, but it can be a bit much if you've only got one other person.

I sometimes have trouble with the reeds not sounding when I try to play softly (even after gapping), but other than that it's a dream. My softly on the Rocket is about at my normal volume on the Crossover, normal is loud, et cetera. "Attacks" sound amazing though.

It's supposedly a souped-up Special 20, but I can't personally confirm this. The holes are wide (maybe a bit moreso than the Promaster) but have little space between them. Novice players seem to be able to feel the holes better, which makes single note playing easier to learn.

Honestly, I prefer the Crossover. I chalk that up to preference, though. The break in time for me was about a week of light playing, during which I almost wanted to give up on it. Even so, it really shined after.

Not as good as special 20 nor cross over...live and learn !

Maybe there's a break up period...don't know...I'll still use it for rehearsal.

Comments about Hohner Rocket Harmonica:

Similar to a Special 20, plastic comb and made by Hohner, the Rocket is louder and the holes are slightly larger for more air flow. This is my second Rocket and it is my go to a a gig.

I use my rocket for all genres. It is much louder and responsive than the special 20 and now it is my favorite harp.

Great harp! Hohner has been back for a while and for the price compared to other harps this is an awesome harmonica. For a small fee you can have your harp tune adjusted at Hohner headquarters in Virginia. I did 4 of these and they play like customs.

                  Comments about Hohner Rocket Harmonica:

I was thrilled to get my new Rocket and it totally lived up to my expectations. The thing is, so did my new Special 20. The Rocket might be the second best harp out there today but the Special 20 is just as good or better and it costs less. Don't get me wrong, if I had a case full of Rockets, I'd be a happy harpist. It's just that the Special 20 is just as good.

This is essentially a souped up Special 20. It is a little louder. I really don't see enough differences to justify the high cost.
