I picked this up mostly for the case. I had not played a Hohner until I bought this set and if this is any indication, I don't want to. I own three Lee Oskers and needed a case, plus I needed the rest of the set. So I figured that I would replace these at worst with Lee Oskers as I could, and use the ones in this set as stand-ins. Boy, these are last resort harps here! These are give away harps. They are slightly smaller than a regular harp, and the plastic body makes them harder to play than a metal case. You have to force more air in and out than a metal harp, and playing them rubs the paint off telling you what key it is in. They sound wretched until they break in, but my Lee Oskers didn't need break in. When Im done, Ill sell these to the drunks who think they can play with me for $2 each. They are junk. I wouldn't even recommend them for beginners because they will frustrate you. Get a good set. The case is nice, but could use a handle.

Great Value but....

By Aaron

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I ordered this set of harmonicas and i must say for 19.99,it is a great value but i was disappointed in the quality. The harmonica covers are made of plastic and not made of metal like most. This is a great buy for the beginner since you get 7 harmonicas. One in A,Bb,C,D,E,F and G. So if your just starting out,buy this set.

Pleased With Piedmont Blues Harps

By Soft Hand

from Jellico, Tn

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I was pleased to receive this set of Hohner Piedmont Blues harmonicas as a gift. They play easily and are very clear. I've tried all 7, and am pleased with how they feel to the mouth and how they sound. The only thing that I am not sure of, is how the plastic cover-plates will hold up. I'm not hard on any of my musical instruments though, so I'm hoping they will last me as long as I live.

Great Value

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

For the price and quality it is unbeatable! Every harmonica you need for hobby or professional play. Great sound and very lightweight. The case is a great way to keep the harps together, clean, and intact. Great to have even if you're not an avid player.

Honestly worth the price.

By Michael

from Farmington MN

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

Ok basically this set is pretty good for the price. All of the harps sound great and are comfortable in the mouth and hand. I give it a 4 because the shrouds are plastic, well not so much that they are plastic but because they are plastic it cuts the volume a bit. This is a wonderful set for beginners, but if you plan to perform for more than yourself or friends you may consider some of the higher quality harps.

Great set to start with!

By Alan

from Columbus, OH

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I play bass guitar and banjo. My dad plays banjo, guitar, and harmonica. I thought this would be a nice set for him for Christmas. After taking a good look at this set, and listening to him play them, I bought another set for myself. I'd been interested in playing harmonica, as I play a lot of bluegrass music. This set is a great set to start with. First, I like the case. It's well-made, and looks nice. All of the harmonicas are neatly and safely stored. Each harmonica has the note/tone clearly marked on it. Finally, they're Hohner's---what more do I need to say. They feel great in your hands, they sound great, and they're contoured for easy play. They're made to be played by an experienced player, like my dad, or, for someone like me, who is just getting started. These are a great value, the quality is excellent, and I'd recommend them to anyone. I'm very happy with this purchase.

For the money, alright...

By Disappointed Wailer

from Catoosa, Oklahoma

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I bought this set of harps because of the amazing deal. I'm not going to say they are bad, but they really disappointed me. They came new with 3 of the harps already having a bad reed! So here I am already sending 3 brand new harps in for repair. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought 2 nice harps instead of these 7 mediocre ones. Good try Hohner, but you fell short on this one.

Hoener makes a winner.

By Nobodysfaultbutmine

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I want it to go on the record by saying I love the piedmont blues harmonica set. This harmonica set is very easy to play, very comfortable in the hands, and gets a great sound. If your a beginner and feel like getting a set of harmonicas look no further then piedmont blues harmonica set. It was nice that all the harps were included its a great kit for finding your sound. My only complaint is that the harps are plastic and I often fear they might get crushed(cause i Usually keep them in my back pocket). Also "Piedmont Blues" and "A" wore off my A harp so often times i find myself playing the wrong side just to quickly remedy that with a quick flip. Aside from that these things rock. Perfect for any style of playing.

Beginner / classroom

By Peter

from Taunton ,Ma

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I honestly bought these for the case ; to hold my Hohner Pro's. I figgured having the extra keys availible would be good too . Upon opening the case I was amazed at the strength of plastic smell , I washed and aired them by a window for a while .. These are for a beginner for shure - the plastic covers are hard to slide across your lips (I put a coat of mint chapstick to aid the slide and hide the smell). They sound thin and the reeds are wimps . On the other hand the sturdy case is put together well and hold the pro's tightly as they have a little bigger width to them . I'd bet they are safer from being stolen too, as no-one would steal the Piedmonts !

This beginner advises getting one decent harp instead of these

By Tim Dickinson

from Stockbridge, GA

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I am a novice harmonica player, and when I was in the store a couple months ago to make a purchase decided to throw these in because they were so cheap. I started out playing the C harp, was making some progress but having trouble with some of the notes - including the 2 draw and 1 blow/draw. Wanting to compare these with a better harmonica, I bought a Suzuki Promaster and could not believe the difference. The first time I picked up the Suzuki, I was amazed at how much easier I had to blow (or draw) to sound notes in general, and on first try the 1 / 2 notes that I was struggling with on the Piedmont with sounded clear. I've since gotten some other harmonicas in other keys, primarily more Suzukis because I found them on sale: Folkmaster, Bluesmaster, and Harpmaster. Every one is light years ahead of the Piedmonts in terms of tone and ease of play, even the lower end Folkmaster. I expect that other makers' (including Hohner) non-uberbudget harps are likely to offer comparable improvements. So my advice, as a beginner of course you can blow on these, but you'll do better and be happier with a single harmonica that costs the price of this set. I have tried all of my Piedmonts out and find them all similar: that is difficult to play. So now I am tossing out all of my Piedmonts but keeping the case.

Buy the Blues Band metal set instead!

By Jerod Whelchel

from Redmond, WA

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I bought the these at a music store and price isn't too bad for a set of 7 but for an extra $15 the metal set is well worth it. These ones are very quiet, several of them have dead notes and the plastic is rough which kind of rubs your lips raw after too much playing. They also have a chemical, plastic taste and smell that goes away after a while (sort of). I keep them in my car just to find out what key songs are in but that's about it.

Surprisingly good

By Malihalo

from Saint Paul, Minnesota

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

Picked up this set as a Christmas present. The harmonicas are made of plastic, so they look a little cheesy, but the quality of sound is perfect. Very easy to manipulate, provides a very nice slow soft tone. Probably not the best bet for a seasoned blues harp player, but perfect for a beginner or someone playing the more mournful harmonica tunes out there.

No More Hohners for me!

By Court Burnett

from Oklahoma City Oklahoma

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I purchased this in-store yesterday after MUCH research online beforehand. I knew that these were plastic harps. I knew that more than likely several of them would be defective and need some tweaking. However in all the reviews I read only one person had mentioned that the plastic covers are a little rough. Funny they dont look rough in the pics, and they didnt feel rough when I opened the plastic. As warned, almost every harp had at least one dead note on it, usually the #2 draw hole. Some were responsive to my adjustments, others were not. Ironically the only harp in the box that played perfectly was the "C" harp- the only key I DIDNT need another one of. I was planning on using the C for repair and modification practice. After all were tested, I proceded to play for a couple of hours trying them all out. After 2 hours my lips were very sore, but strangely only my bottom lip. I tried to figure out why, and then I saw it- MADE IN CHINA. Now I already knew these were made in China, as all Hohners have been for years now. What surprised me about this is that it is engraved in the bottom of the lower cover, right between the 1 and 2 hole RIGHT WHERE MY LIPS SLIDE!!! imagine going from 1 or 2 up to 6 really fast with a piece of engraved plastic scoring across your lip. When I woke up this morning, my lower lip is severely red, and chapped to the point where playing my real harps is even uncomfortable. I seriously doubt I will ever pick these up again unless it is to steal a screw or nut from one of them. Yes this set has some merits, price being one of them, but I cannot see recommending this to anyone other than a kid that wants to hear the different keys and wont seriously play them. This is just a really irresponsible and ill thought out design from an overseas manufacturer.

What you pay for is what you get.

By Rebekah Birkheimer

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

Thought I would take a chance and order these. You know the old saying.......too good to be true........well yep ,it was. I don't know how these got the ratings they got. I must have got a whole pack of lemons. Only one out of the whole pack would play. Made out of cheap plastic. Don't want my money back just would end up being a pain in the butt like the harps were. I hope the rest of the products they sell are of good quality. I doubt if I buy anything else from here.

Great for the price!

By Dann Diehl

from ohio

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

Any musician owes it to themselves to learn how to do a correct set-up of their chosen instrument. I have been a multi-instr. for over 34 years (bass, mandolin, guitar, drums/percussion, trumpet, trombone, flute/recorder and harmonica). I have spent well over $1000.00 for an elect. bass that didn't play well out of the box. These are by no means a pros choice. But, with a little tweaking, I was able to bend notes with control and get a surprisingly good tone out of every one in the set. A bit more air is needed to produce a note compared to some higher end harps. I give it 4-stars for being a great beginner or for someone getting back into playing.

By Richard Larson

from Blaine, Mn

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case I purchased these Harmonica's based on the reviews I read. I was 100% disappointed. The case smells like old cigars and the Harmonica's taste the same. Not all the blow wholes work on any of the harmonica's except the Bb. Keep your money. I am a harmonica player. I purchased wanting to have a set to carry with one short trip and so on. I did not want have my good one for this purpose. These do not have good sound a lot of the wholes do not work and I can not us the case for others. Purchase 2014 Lee

Great for beginners!

By Mat W.

from Austin, TX

Comments about Hohner Piedmont Blues 7-Harmonica Pack with Case:

I have played harmonica before, but very little. I was told that Hohner is the way to go, so I bought this very inexpensive set. Although they're plastic, they give out an amazing sound. The case is great, everything arrived in perfect shape. I can't recommend this enough. If you're just starting to play Harmonica, and want a set of your own, this is certainly the way to go, they're cheap, and they produce great sound.
