Bought this for my 9-year old to use with school lessons and it has been a great choice so far. The finish was superb and the feel of the guitar is good. A few small blemishes on the fret board but he doesn't mind. It only has a single button to attach a strap on the bottom; a second would have been nice, but we simply tied the strap behind the strings above the nut. We did replace the strings to some lighter weight Gibsons and the tone is much better, plus it's easier on his hands. I would certainly recommend this guitar for children or adults needing to transport a guitar frequently.

I bought this guitar less than 2 years ago as a compact practice guitar for use at home. I wanted a 3/4 scale for fun. I bought it the Gator 3/4 hard shell caseas well. I used it with a student or two to teach them some basic chord variations, but it's never been abused. I will say that out of the box, it seemed very plastic-y, and I had to wind both E strings the opposite way around their respective tuners (similar to a Martin Backpacker or Gibson Melody Maker with a skinny headstock) and it stays in tune now. The fretboard is dead flat, so I had to get used to no radius, as I wasn't a classical player. The strings were held to the bridge with pins and not "through" bridge like the picture shows (which is one of the reasons I bought the Hohner over another brand, but I got over it). It has no serial number, made in China, it was priced low, so whatever. This is the important part, I have only changed the strings once, and I didn't use very heavy ones, D'addarios, I think they were 11s, and the bridge has started to peel up from the top of the guitar. It still plays, it's still fun to play, but it's days are apparently numbered. The description says "years of use"... to be exact ... two years. Well, it's less than 2 years old, it's only had one set up, and it already needs bridge work. Hohner, update your stock photo, and ...nice craftsmanship.

Great Guitar

By Franklin Bunch

from E Alton, IL

This is a excellent guitar for price, looks great and good tone Be aware that the fingerboard is 2" wide at nut, may be more difficult for small hands, and the nut needs strings lowered to ease fingering

Excellent Starter Guitar

By JM Graves

from Jacksonville, FL

My son has been wanting to learn how to play a guitar since he was about 5. Now that he is 8 we got him lessons for his birthday. He wasn't big enough to play my full size guitar and I didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a midsize guitar. His teacher recommended this guitar as a starter. I was very happy to see the quality of it. It maintains it tune and is sturdy enough to take on my energetic 8 year old. I find myself playing with it every once in awhile. It is good enough for him to learn and grow on until he is big enough to move to a full size where it will be worth paying the extra money for a higher quality product.

She wants to be Keith Richards...

By Lowe

from Jensen Beach, Florida

She's been wanting a guitar that sounds like daddy's steel-string...So I bought this for my 5-year-old's birthday (to replace her nylon-string Hohner, which she plays daily). This is a suprisingly attractive (nice finish), pretty well-built and decent sounding guitar. I opened the box, tuned it up, and immediately was pleased with the mellow, yet full and fairly bright, sound. The strings are nice and light, enough so that she's able to play without a lot of pain, which will make the transition from nylon to steel an easy one. It has a nice clean-feeling neck, and the frets and fret board seem well made and feel good and smooth under the fingers. It's not a super narrow neck so it's some work for her to get around the fretboard..but she really wants to play. The adjustable saddle is a new touch for me, and it remains to be seen how important it will become. In a year or so, she'll get the Baby Taylor or Laguna Brat...Till then, this will do very well, and I'm very pleased with the guitar.

Great guitar for younger beginners

By jasvanek

from Oklahoma City, OK

I bought this guitar for my 12you daughter who said she wanted an acoustic guitar for Christmas. It was not my first choice or even my second. But, two weeks before the day and you're still waiting for a back order you have to do something. So with options dwindling I ordered this one. Simply put, it's great. There isn't one single real problem I find with the guitar. The hardware (what there is of it) is perfect. Works with ball end strings. Fit and finish are outstanding. I couldn't even find a flaw in the clear coat. I was actually pleasantly surprised with this guitar compared to others in the same price range. If I had to have one suggestion for Hohner it would be set it up with nylon strings. While the bronze give better tone and brightness, the nylon are easier on the fingers for new players. I replaced them immediately. Just a suggestion. Overall 5 out of 5 on this one.

Neat little Guitar

By Vince

from Lisbon LA.

I bought one of these and am very happy with it. Sound is pretty good. Craftsmanship is good for a mass production student type guitar. Neck has a truss rod and guitar comes with a hex wrench for adjustment of truss rod. The fretboard is plain and flat, very basic, but honest. I like it for practicing slide and finger pickin blues. Intonation is OK. Overall good sound and finish. It is an OK guitar for students with larger hands. But for students with small hands fretboard might be a little wide. A great "knock about"

WOW

By Donna B

Man, for a 3/4 size guitar - for any guitar - what a nice deep sound this Hohner has. I would recommend it to anyone! And for a beginner guitar, well, now I know why people hang onto them.

Happy with this Guitar

By Nancy

from Butler, GA

We researched 3/4 scale guitars before purchasing this one online. We are very pleased with the sound quality! We wanted something that sounded "real" but didn't come with a huge prices tag in case our son lost the desire to learn to play. We are very happy with this choice. Not only does it sound beautiful, it is a gorgeous looking guitar for the money! We called stores in our area hoping to pick one up since it was a week and a half before Christmas. When I talked to a sales person in a store here in Georgia, he assured me I could order it that day and still get it by the end of the week (a week before Christmas). I was not totally convinced, but I trusted him. The guitar showed up right when he said! Great customer service on the 2 calls I made to stores in GA and AL. I would definitely order from this company again. We ordered a strap to go with this guitar, but with our lack of experience in guitars, we didn't realize that you also have to put something on the guitar for the strap to attach to it - which we don't have. (or either we're slightly confused and need some help - LOL) Overall - great guitar for what we need, great sounds, and beautiful look!
