Overview

The Hohner Essential Plus dreadnought guitar is built using a revolutionary technique Hohner calls Frequency Matching. Hohner's technicians use a form of tap tuning to determine the resonant frequencies of the woods and then match the solid Sitka spruce tops with similarly resonant mahogany backs. Combining this process with a micro thin finish produced an acoustic guitar with a powerful, rich singing tone that rivals guitars selling for three times as much.

The Hohner acoustic guitar starts with a solid Sitka top, for a clear, balanced tone, with a crisp edge. The Mahogany body adds projection to the instrument, and the rosewood fretboard adds strength and lasting sustain. The 25-1/2" scale and 1-3/4" nut width adds comfort to intricate finger movements. Featuring chrome die-cast tuners, chrome hardware, and a satin natural finish, this dreadnought will be a welcome addition to your musical collection, and at a price that won't break the bank.

All Hohner Essential Plus guitars go through a 12-point inspection process at Hohner's US facility to make sure every guitar is set up to sound and play great.

Great Value

Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought arrived at my door step two weeks ago. It is a very plain Jane looking guitar, there are absolutely no fancy cosmetic frills any where, not even binding on the body or the neck and the entire guitar has a satin finish. But, it is this raw look that makes it so adorable. However, this guitar shines in the sound department. It has a rich and beautiful tone with a good volume. As Hohner claims, this guitar really is in tune with itself, better intonation than most guitars out there. The nut-width is the standard size, 1 11/16?, and not the 1.75? that?s advertised. I actually ordered this guitar because of the 1.75? spec since all my other steel-string acoustics have the standard size nut-width. The wider neck makes finger picking easier. As disappointed as I was about this I couldn?t bring myself to return it. I really like the sound and the raw look of it. The neck is also a standard size neck, not bulky and not slim. There are no sharp fret ends and the tuning keys seem to keep the strings in tune for a reasonable length of time. The neck action (strings? height) out of the box was a bit high for my playing style, but that was an easy fix. I played it side by side against my other Dreadnoughts that I have in its price category and it scored very high, it produced the low notes better than most of them. I?m glad to have this baby in my arsenal of guitars; it?s definitely worth the money. If measurements are important to you, then here they are: Overall length 41-1/4? Body length 20-0? Lower bout 15-5/8? Higher bout 11-5/8? Waist 10-3/4? Sides 3-7/8? - 4-7/8? Nut width 1-11/16? Body fret (14th fret) 2-1/8? Neck profile at 1st- 9th frets 0-13/16? (includes fretboard thickness) Soundhole Diameter 3-15/16?

This guitar is short of amazing

Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

One of my friends owns this guitar and it is very close in tone and playability to my martin acoustic guitar. It has a very nice tone and texture to the neck. It is good for intermediate level guitarists. The guitar is very good for the price just because of its resemblence to other more expensive guitars, it just makes it more worth buying because it has the same playability and tone as other popular guitar brands, but much cheaper.

Good solid top guitar

Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The Hohner is a nice sounding guitar with good projection and decent tone. The guitar stands up well against entry level Martins X-series and Taylor 110's but at a significantly lower price. I love the satin finish. If you don't mind being different and having a less recognizable name on the headstock, go for this one!
