I recently purchased these harmonicas for my first set. I am amazed with the sound of these and so far they are very durable....they come with a grey case, lol and if you want red I suggest buying a red case, but it's just a case. The only one flaw is that the writing on the harp to tell what key it's in wares off easily and the key names for keys c and g wore off in the first two days. other than that these are great harps.
The seven piece, Hohner Blues Band harmonica set with case, is an excellent value for children and beginners. I really just bought this harmonica set for the Hardshell case and to have some extra harps to practice with. The Blues Bands harps themselves sounds kind of flat and fill a bit flimsy (I'm not a big fan of the plastic comb either), but in the overall scheme of things I'm happy with the purchase. ?Inexpensive, nice case, with decent Harps. I can't complain!? I could definitely recommend this product!
A professional music store should not sell these.
Price was right. Nice case. Looks like a harmonica. Besides, single harps of quality are a bit pricey. But, like any child's instrument, it turns the experience of learning into a negative one. If you have never played harp, and don't know if you will like it (or 'get it')you will certainly never know by buying these.
Many companies plant inferior products (made in a 3rd country-China) alongside their top-end line (made in Germany). Hoehner is no different in that respect. I play enough to know better, but thought I'd give them a chance. The GC store in Minneapolis carries a turnstile of harps, but the stock was a bit depleted, and there were not many to choose from, so I opted on the chance that these would do: No! Not even around the house in front of the dog. If you don't know which harp to buy, which harp might suit your needs, research the song or artist on-line to get an idea on which key to buy, because it does matter. Originally the idea behind buying these harps was to have a 'stable' of harps to find out which tune used which harp. But they became too aggravating to use.
