A responsive chromatic harp that expands the range, style, and kind of notes you can play.

As a principal choice for some of the world's leading harmonica musicians, the solo-tuned 270 Super Chromonica has a 3-octave chromatic range beginning at middle C. Choose your desired key!

The Hohner 270 Super Chromonica is the answer to the sound you're seeking if you ever feel like you're missing just the right note. The chromatic harmonica's impeccably designed slide button system makes every note, every style, and every expression available to you on one beautiful harp. Whether you're playing sophisticated, tasty jazz melodies or your favorite pop tune, you can even change keys mid-song for artistic impact. Use the Hohner 270 Super Chromonica to lay it down like Toots Thielemans or the great Larry Adler. Any style or mood you need—major, minor, blues, or bebop—is available on the chromatic Hohner Chromonica. Hohner builds the Super Chromonica with a wood body for a warm tone that covers 3 complete octaves.

Hohner is a family company founded in 1857 in Trossingen, Germany by Matthias Hohner. Hand-made quality and close attention to detail has set Hohner apart from the beginning. A top leading brand in harmonicas, Hohner harps are distributed worldwide. Hohner harmonicas are played on the street by buskers, in intimate nightclubs, on festival stages, and even in Carnegie Hall. Despite a diverse harmonica line used in music from country to classical genres, the most famous Hohner harmonicas are their simple, 10-hole diatonics used frequently by blues, rock, country, and folk musicians.

  • The standard for Chromatic harps for 30+ years.

As reviewed by Sue Rohner on 8/12/2013

I have been wailing on the harp since I was a teenager... no, a pre-teenager. The 270 is an indistry standard - I have gigged with this harp since I was a kid (no joke, my first was like in the 1970's, and it was a used low G reedbender 270) , I have done everything from live audience to streetcorner to jam sessions. You gotta KNOW how a harp works - especially a chromatic - to play one and do it well, and if you're not willing to break in your babies, you get what you deserve... but seriously, this is one of a few chromatics that Hohner makes (the Amadeus is another, the super 64 is maybe the 3rd) that once you have it broken in, you can **work** this harp, it responds like a masarati to a gran prix driver. Why I love the 270 - can you say ANY key availability? You get (IIRC, counting the oddball tunings, 17 or 18 harps) the ability to grab any harp and WAIL in any key... bend those reeds, warp that vibe, and even if they're playing in E flat... yeppers, you can ride that train, and do it with soul. Those that cannot play this machine... well, like your perfesser and momma said, practice, practice, practice. ;)

  • Starter at most

As reviewed by Dave Stroud on 4/28/2011

I play Harmonica and have for fourty years, I have found that not all harmonicas are for the Pro's, this one is not real expensive and i should not have expected a whole lot but once you buy it you are stuck with it, mine had tone quality issues, have tryed to get use to it but it doesn't have the potential to satisfy my needs, i also play Keyboard and Guitar this was a let down.

  • Great Harmonica

I really like this one but I need to learn to play it better. Works differently than a regular Diatonic style harmonica. It will let you play a lot more notes than found on the other style.
