Solid harp, great sound. I've had others and cheaper ones. But I love this one. Key A. Will be replacing my C and G with this harp.

I find the Marine Band is a lot warmer than the Blues Harp - although it isn't a 'Modular" harp and you can't get it repaired for more than twice the cost of a new one. That's just wrong I feel - but I guess that's the way Hohner wants it. Remember that ALL harps wear out and will need to be replaced from time to time - but the M/B is a pretty robust unit - just give it a couple of hours to work-in before you ask it to work hard. The M/B has that mellow and yet cutting sound that is just what you need to create the air of the blues. It bends well with a little coaxing during the first week or so - but after that it is 100% ready for the big time. If I couldn't get a M/B, I'd go with the 'Golden Melodies' as it is just the next step up from this one. Either will carry you to the music very well. Keep 'em clean and don't feed them any food or soft drinks from your mouth and they'll last a long time. Start with the 'C' and graduate to the 'G' and then add either an 'A' or a 'Bb" and you've got a lot of the blues songs covered.

I've been playing harps for a few years. Started with a "Pocket Pal". Think it cost $5.00. Have tried a few and worked my way up the quality line. Never wanted to spend the little extra for a Marine Band. Thought how much better could it be? Well it's worth it. I've had it a few weeks now and it still looks like new but it has opened up tonally. Like the plastic case you get with it. Can't explain it just seems more powerful and purer sounding. Just feels solid in your hand I've since also bought another in the key of A. Probably buy the rest and get a case for the set shortly. Buy it! You can't go wrong...There may be better but I haven't played them.
