  • Great Blues Mic!!

As reviewed by Peter Bode on 1/27/2012

I've been in blues bands for many years and have used many a mic in my day. This one does everything that I expect from a harmonica mic. The sound is great, the look is sharp, the sound through an effects board is one that I cant get anywhere, and the overall ease of use and performance is terrific! The main thing that sold me (besides the name recognition and sound I expected) was the detachable mic cord. Believe it or not, many harp mics have an attached cord-- if it goes bad, your out of luck. Here you can abuse the mic and it will still be resilient to the work. As you can tell, very pleased and this is definitely going to be my primary harp mic from here on out.

  • A Real Disappointment

As reviewed by imctt on 2/20/2007

Right out of the box, the fit and finish was horrible. The blue metalfllake paint had drip marks in it, the chrome grill had sharp edges (unsanded burs) for my hands. Plug it in and it's shrill beyond belief -- the volume control helped none, feedback was awful, no matter where I tried to hide. I found this product flat out unusable, and I've been around mics for 40 years. This one has sat in the box ready for auction from day one... just haven't gotten around to it. I've always admired several of Hohner's blues harps, and am a loyal brand customer, but this mic is a dud. By the way, I was not allowed to trial test this against a Green Bullet because air goes through it, and you know the rest of that PC story. But if I had, I'd have saved that $75, a headache, and spent a little more for the Shure Green Bullet. If you do, you'll be glad you did.

  • Love mine; bought another for a buddy

As reviewed by RSteve on 6/2/2009

I gotta admit to being a microphone junkie. You know the type; maybe the next mic will sound a little better or a little different. Maybe it's my 64 year old ears that need some help. I own a Green Bullet, Nady Bushman Torpedo, and a Blues Blaster. I like 'em all and each for a different purpose, besides playing harp. The Bushman is a 200 ohm harp mic with excellent voice response; the Green Bullet is a hi-Z mic that barks right into a guitar amp without a transformer and the Blues Blaster is multipurpose, if you remember to buy a lo to hi Z line transformer. I like the sound of the Blues Blaster and I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. The volume control is a plus, though when I'm running it through a Shure X2U USB interface to record direct to a computer it's not a necessary accessory.
