The Hofner Icon Bass Delivers!
I ordered the bass online so I didn't actually see or touch it until it was delivered. I was relieved and overwhelmingly impressed with the quality of the workmanship and overall appearance of the bass especially considering the very low price. It's been over a month now since it was delivered and it remains my favorite for stage performing. I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend the Hofner Icon Bass.

Guitarzan
I recently purchased the Hofner Icon series Bass and I am totally pleased. It has such a pleasant and warm tone. It is a dream to play and the action was perfect right out of the box. The short scale is fine. The best part about this bass is that it is so light. You can play it all night without getting a sore back. I left the round wound strings on because they sound great. I just love the looks of this instrument. It is worth the money just to look at it. All I have to do now is find a place to buy "Tea Cup" knobs!

Fantastic product.
I recently recieved this particular bass as a gift and was not all that excited when I saw it. Until of coarse, I plugged it in. I was completely amazed by the clarity in tone and magnificent blend this bass had. Possibly the amp's doing, but no doubt also a direct result of having an outstanding instrument plugged into it. Having great looks as well as sound, I recommend this for anyone who wants to play a Hofner bass but can't afford the more expensive models. It's an absolutely fabulous intstrument.

What a value!
This is the third Hofner violin bass I've owned, the first being a mid-70's, and the second being an original '64, but this Chinese one may be the best. The mid-70's had pickups with awful feedback. The original '64 had a dead E-string, even with brand new strings. This one (with LaBella flatwounds) sounds great... warm and round.
The neck was straight; no adjustments necessary. The finish was fine--I couldn't find any flaws. The only problem was that the tailpiece had been installed off center. This made the strings "bend" at the saddle. I made the decision to get out the drill and fix this flaw. Oh, one more problem: the jack was loose on its mounting plate, which was a simple fix.

It was Hofner at First Sight
The Hofner Icon Series Vintage Violin Bass, is a must add addition to your collection of instruments that are in your "Classical" section. It not only looks cool, it plays strong on it own. It's Very Light weight, I almost feel like I can break it, which is probably not a good thing. If you want the real thing and don't have the money, this is your next best bet.

Hofner Icon Series Beatle Bass
I am a transplant from New York who has lived in La. for 24yrs. I learned to play the Bass listening to Paul McCartney's Bass lines with the Beatles back in the 60's, and since living here have been hooked on the Blues. I've had my Icon Series Bass about 2 weeks now and "baby I'm amazed" at how well this Bass plays, feels, and looks. I've sat in with a Blues Band three times and I love the deep rich sound she produces, and the way other Bass players have stood in line to play her. I have a Rickenbacker Bass, Fender Precision Bass, and a Epiphone Viola Bass, but by far my Hofner Icon Series Violin Bass is the best. I believe that I have hit the Motherload!!

Great Bass
The spacing on the frets is almost like playing guitar. For being a bass, it is light. Much lighter than my guitar.
Sounds that I got out of this thing are unbelievable. It plays like a bass should. One of the best buys I've ever done.

Loved but Flawed
Well, for starters, I love this bass and the overall design. Can't put it down!
I did, however, receive a bass with several manufacturing flaws that made it very frustrating. For the price I was not surprised, but I was still disappointed.
On close inspection the binding work is very sloppy, with stain from the wood splashed over on parts. Also, I received a tailpiece that had the detail pieces soldered/welded on crooked and chromed over. And, worst of all, it came unplayable because there was a short at the cheap output jack.
I will say, however, that I kept, fixed, and love mine and doubt I will ever part with it. To their credit; Guitar Center gave me a partial refund because I did not have the time to go through the return process.
These are great instruments but, in terms of build quality, you get what you pay for!

Big Sound!!!
I’m an overweight right handed Paul McCartney impersonator; I don’t have enough money to get the real deal Hofner. So I picked up one of these. It’s got great tone and playability for the price. My only real complaint is that it’s a smaller bass and I have very large fingers. Other than that the Icon is a steal that’s put my band “She’s so heavy” one step closer to getting out of mom’s basement and on the stage!! I just couldn't be happier with my purchase!

What a great Bass!
This is a fantastic bass for beginners & professionals, although I am a beginner I've had several pro's come up and ask to play mine and just seeing their faces is well worth the $$ I spent and I know with time and practice this will sure be a hard bass to put down.
