Best Upgrade Possible

By CHRIS

from Murrieta, CA

I own a Schecter Stiletto Custom-5 string bass guitar. The stock tuning keys suck. Therefore, I wanted to upgrade the keys when TWO (not one, but two) of them stopped holding any string tension during a restringing session. Although Guitar Center delivered the wrong item a few times, the wait and customer service made everything worthwhile. This set is the best deal possible for this brand/model of tuning key. HOWEVER, it is only a set of FOUR, and I had to buy the 5th one from the manufacturer directly (which worked out fine I suppose). Other than the amount in a set being non-negotiable, I am very satisfied so far, and these keys kick major/minor! Rimshot.

Stays in tune forever!

By Janine Gregory

from Bethesda MD

Replaced worn out tuning pegs on a Washburn Taurus. These are similar size and shape, so switching was easy. Now my bass stays in tune for weeks at a time - amazingl.

So far, so good.

By Justin Kripps

from Lake Mary FL

I put the HB6Y-3/8 (black finish) on my G&L SB-2. Not only do they look cool, but they hold tune flawlessly and turn smoothly. Initially, I was concerned when I received them that the quality wasn't there because they are so much lighter than the ones they replaced. Fear not, they work. A quick note on installation. In my case, the best results were achieved by not removing the original metal sleeves that sit in the tuning peg holes. Slap-a-da-bass-big-time.

Very nice replacement tuners!

By Robert York

from Hamilton, NJ

I bought these tuners for my Goth T-bird to add some contrast to it; man, these are great! The fit perfect, they're really solidly built, very lightweight (a must for T-birds) and they have a nice gear ratio so you don't have to keep cranking them for 5 minutes just to change the pitch half a step. The only thing I would say is that the actually head of the tuners is much more matte than it looks in the picture, but for me this is fine since it matches the body of my bass. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a stylish upgrade to their tuners.

Hipshot Rules!

By Old Fart Bass Player

from Livermore, CA

If you have Gotoh style tuners on your bass, you will not be dissapointed replacing them with Hipshot Ultralites. That is what I am doing. I put them on a 5-string Peavey Grind Bass (HB6Y 3/8 Black), very nice. Now I'm looking to replace the tuners on my Fender MIM 5-string (HB6Y 3/8 Chrome). I put a Moses Graphite neck on an American Deluxe J and had Moses install HB6Y 3/8 Chrome on the neck -- fantastic. These are much lighter, smoother, and look really good installed. Great tuners. I put Hipshot A-Style bridges on my Jazz Basses too. Hipshot rules. They love me; I keep them in business.
