Overview

The Hercules DJ Console MK2 lets you mix on your computer without any other DJ equipment or you can integrate it into your analog equipment. This versatile DJ mixing station has 2 stereo inputs to connect 2 vinyl turntables or CD players and 2 stereo outputs to play your mix or redirect it to an effects processor or external mixer. The Hercules DJ Console MK2 features more precise and more elevated jog wheels to make scratching easy and a split mode to preview your mix in your headphones.

The DJ Console MK2 DJ mixer also retains the features that made the original DJ Console a success: a dual-deck mixer, a soundcard dedicated to DJing, a microphone input with a talk-over function, and a headphone output for previewing songs. Plus The Hercules DJ Mixer remains compact and highly portable with power provided by your PC's USB port and included shoulder strap and detachable cover.

The Hercules DJ Console MK2 comes with VirtualDJ 3 software, which works with the DJ mixing console to give you total control of your music, with a highly precise instant BPM counter, as well as effects to transform, filter, and loop audio files to give your music mixes personality.

Many different types of mixing are possible with the DJ Console MK2: digital mixing of audio files on the MK2's jog wheels, mixing an audio file on a PC together with an analog source from the audio inputs, mixing 2 tracks directly in the DJ Console MK2 or keeping them separate to mix them once they have been output from the console on an external mixer, and more.

This piece of technology is good for begginers that like enjoy mix, the software installation was a little difficult but after that you enjoy your product. The sound is great even without equalizer, the disc are very sensitives so you need be careful with those. In resume is a good product I recomend

Hercules mk2

By Jason Darks

from Smyrna,TN

I'm just getting started doing the dj thing. The Hercules is great for me. I am still trying to figure out all the different things it can do. The Virtual software that came with it is very user friendly. I would highly recomend this product for anyone starting out.

Strong Controller/Essential for Beginners

By DJ TKO

from Philadelphia

This was a first buy when I first started out DJ'ing. It definitely gave me the needed experience, to move to more professional equipment. I used the MK2 for close to 4 years and have been somewhat impressed with the hardware and software. This a must by as a beginner, just to get your feet wet and nothing more. It is limited in some functions, for a live event. A few negatives to point out were: the cheap plastic casing and after normal usage the controller has trouble interacting with the Virtual DJ software at times.

Great Product

By Nik

from san diego

Its great for the money, you really cant beat it. I have used it many times at parties, and has worked great. The big appeal of it to me at first was that it had vista drivers, because i have tried similar products and they didnt. The other products that i had tried previous to this, could not compete with it. The only down sides i would say would be the jog wheels are way too touchy, is a lock button too much to ask for? Also when scratching it doesnt sound like real vinyl but is close, great product for the novice and intermediate dj.

Take the Good with the Bad

By Charlie

from California

If you're a club DJ or interested in "serious" scratching and mixing, this is NOT the unit for you. I have been a mobile DJ for 14 years and perform mostly weddings and corporate functions. This is a staple in my equipment. The BAD: The jog wheel does get bumped and makes the track skip due to its awkward placement on the board. It is made of plastic and "feels" like it would break just by looking at it. The included Virtual DJ software (special version) can ONLY be used with THIS device when it's plugged into your computer's USB port, & won't even open without it. The auto BPM is rarely accurate and if you catalog your MP3s in individual artist folders, the search option only finds songs in the folder you have highlighted. In other words, you have to click on the specific folder to find a song (as opposed to searching your entire catalog from the search bar.) A pain when you have over 50,000 songs in 300 folders. The GOOD: The features on this board are very user friendly. I also own the PCDJ with the DAC-3 controller and the AUDIOKONTROL-1 by Native Instruments. The Virtual DJ gives you more effects and more control over your music including backspin, reverse, flanger, etc. You can disable the jog wheel from "scratching" in the CONFIG screen. Even though it's plastic, I have used it for over 2 years and it's still going strong (although, I did lose a knob.) The auto BPM can be overridden by a manual BPM setting where you set the anchor points and adjust the BPM yourself (works pretty well, but it's kind of a pain!) And you can put all your songs into one general music folder to improve search capabilities. And don't forget it's 1/2 the price of Serrato. Bottom line, it's a great entry-level piece of equipment for "basic" parties and a lot of fun to use! I swear by it!

I like the flexibibily

By DJ NRG

from Denver

The Hercules mixer / soundcard gives me a chance to be more flexible with my setup. When I do club work and the spacing is not always available. I use the mixer for both the VirtualDJ and Traktor. VirtualDJ does not auto beatmatch very well. overall, I love the mixer and softer. You do need a computer with at least 512 of ram to be fully funtional with no glitches. I would say to use this product for the budget concious DJ.

good starter, but still lacking

By kidchaos

from Ausitn

The controller is good for someone transitioning from a cd/turntable set up to digital. EQ noisy, but functional. Need a good PC to run (mem/cpu hog). The controls are too close together and jog wheels are easily bumped (as others have said). Mic needs a gain or preamp adjustment. Would not recomend for pro usage. Look for the new M-audio X-session Pro or different controlles. If you enable the timecoded vinyl by upgrading the software (~$299 plus vinyl) you can run it through your own mixer, but would defeat the purpose of a mixer controller. Software is Shoutcast capable, so if you want to broadcast on net, it will work. Overall a great value, even will eq and design issues.

Best Deal for the Money

By Mikester

from San Francisco, CA

If you want to mix MP3/WMA files, this is the best deal in town. Mixing was never this easy. With headphone switching and the frequency spectrum window, you can synchronize the beats like pro. My only issue is the jog wheel; it?s too sensitive and close to other knobs. This is great for a beginner DJ or hobbyist.
