Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

The guitarist in my band got one of these and I was impressed with how sturdy and flexible the tripod legs were. The legs can be rotated laterally, which adds to the versatility and stability of the overall stand. I find that when the legs are rotated to the shape of a sort of bird claw, the stand's pole can be tilted forward to where a boom is generally no longer needed. Our guitarist added a boom, but I (bass player) have elected not to add one. Adjustments to the stand are quick and easy. I ordered mine online and had it shipped to my house. Unfortunately, the universal mic clip that came with the stand was broken. If everything was intact I would have given 5 stars. I opted not to exchange the stand, because I intended to use the mic clip that is specific to my mic anyway. The stand is a little pricey compared to other tripod stands, but I used a 15% off coupon and I'm generally happy with the value.

      Great Concept But It Slips

      By michael ciano

      from Boston, MA

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

I love the idea of this stand, which is why I bought it. The problem is, at even the slightest angle, the stand starts to fall. It won't lock in place. some way to tighten the bolts on the base would have been a smart addition. I'm only using an SM58 so there is no inordinate amount of weight in the clip. Very disappointing.

Just what I have been searching for

      By Zanda Moore

      from Tampa, FL

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

I have been looking for a stand that was sturdy, compact, and easy to assemble. This stand has that and more. No more worry that someone will accidentally brush up against my stand and bring my microphone tumbling to the ground. And no more twisting to move the height, just press the lever and it moves smoothly. And the fact that it can stand up straight or lean in is wonderful for small spaces. Thank you for making this stand available.

Vintage Shure 55 with the Hercules

      By Steve Pulley

      from Madison, WI

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

I had the same problem Jim. Just unscrew the pivot pin on the yellow base flange and reverse the stand pole and retighten. This will give you better clearance. Then slightly relieve the rubber hand grip with a Dremmel tool where the XLR plug hits along the length of the rubber hand grip. Just a half pencil groove about 1 1/2" will do. Then you have the best stand there is for a Shure 55 and you can quick release it from the stand when you want to. Which is why back in the day they always picked up the whole mic. and stand and twirled it.

Durable, Presentable, and Easy to use!

      By Carlos

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

I have 5 of these stands and I am very happy with them. I had one of my stands' EZ grip get stuck and it wouldn't lock into place, but I took it to Guitar Center and they replaced it for me very easily. They're built really good though and I would recommend them to anyone!

      sturdy, easy to use

      By Brenton

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

These Hercules stands are the greatest. Very sturdy, quick set-up, easy on the hands (no more stripped threads, over-tightened parts). Easy to do quick one-hand height adjust, tilt adjust in the middle of a song. No falling over with heavy mic.

      Best mic stands!

      By Carlos Lopez

      from Portland, OR

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

I bought these mics because at the church I was going to before, they had it and they were firm and they were very easy to use. I opened them up and they were simply open the box and extend the legs put on a clip and it's ready to use. I am very pleased with this mic stands, I got 4 of them for our singers - they love it. I would highly recommend this stand for singers, they also have one for guitarists and more.

be careful which mic you use

      By Jim

      from Aberdeen, SD

Comments about Hercules Stands MS401B Transformer Tilt Base Microphone Stand:

The stand is very sturdy and well designed. The ez up and down is great, however the hardware doesn't fit my Shure 55 mic. There is no room for the hookup cord to go past the ez hand grip. I am working with customer support at Hercules and Guitar Center for a resolution. We will see what happens.
