These are now discontinued, but will remain on this site as long as they are in stock, so I figured after owning one for 2 years, I'll finally leave my input.
Anwyays, I have had this amp since 2012 and I run it through both a Hydrive series 410 and 115 cab setup. It is very versatile with all of the features it has, and I find myself using most of them alot of the time. The overdrive works pretty good when you use lots of midrange, I only recently started using it and it adds a nice warm fizz over top of my sound even when I am already using my Sansamp Bass Driver.
So anyways, the reason I am only giving a 4/5 is because I figured at 1000 watts this thing would blow the doors down. Don't get me wrong, it does get loud, but not as loud as I expected. With just the 410 cab, it wasn't even loud enough for me to practice with my band. One thing you will really notice however is that when the volume is set to around 6, that is when it really starts to get loud and put out it's power.
Bottom line,I would reccommend this amp, especially if you find one used (which will be your only option soon). With power, it does not compare to my Ampeg SVT, but it sure does beat the maintenance and repair costs, and the weight of course. I've heard of some people having issues with these things shutting off and having power amps not work, but I have had 0 technial issues so far and I've ran this thing pretty hot.
So like I said before, if you see one of these kicking around, go ahead and grab one, with all of the versatility, I don't think you will be disappointed.
If this head was 20 pounds lighter, I'd have punched 5 stars. But other than the weight, so far its better than I expected. Good on you Hartke! Paired the Kilo with a G-K Neo 212 II. Kilo has plenty of extra power to add the G-K Neo 115 III if I need more speaker. In bridged mono this amp kicks 750 watts at 8 ohms and 1,000 watts at 4 ohms. Tons of flexibility. Still learning what it can do but its a ton of fun having an amp this strong and with all the versatile. If you get one, you'll be happy you did. I sure am.
This amp is freaking amazing!!! it is really easy to use once you get the hang of it and the sound is just untouchable. I have played amps made by everyone and this is the daddy of them all in this price range and higher!! This bad boy is VERY heavy though. so if you have a bad back...pick yourself up a roady.
Do yourself a favor and pick this amp up if you want pure power and fantastic tone!
My kilo is powering a pair of hydrive 410 cabinets and the rig is a beast. Tons of power, Looks awesome, and most importantly, sounds really good. I also have an Eden head and have owned SWR, and the Hartke seems powerful and allows for way more control of the sound. The eq is sweet and the amount of sound options are limitless. The kilo is built like a freakin tank with a very heavy chasis. The scary problem was my local guitar center didn't stock it or the cabinets, and so I ordered it on faith, based on my past experiences with Hartke. I also wish it would have come with a footswitch, but it doesn't. Great Bass Amp! Highly Recommended.
