Hartke Systems have built a second to none reputation for themselves in the music community thanks to their powerful lines of bass guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets. Founded in Bloomfield, New Jersey by Larry Hartke, the company began modestly. In fact, the original Hartke headquarters for the company was a small shop in the basement of the home the founder grew up in.
Hartke had previously worked with A. Stewart Hegeman, a respected name in the world of audio design thanks to his work with the likes of Harman Kardon, so when he made the decision to venture out on his own, he was well suited to do so. His major break in the world of amplification came in 1984 when the first Hartke bass cabinet was used by legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius.
