I bought a pair of these for 5 reasons. 1. Multiple inputs/switches/outputs including RCA (that I have a use for) that more expensive monitors do not all have. I do use the balanced/Mic input along with DI boxes from a CD player and get 0 noise/great response! 2. Almost-Flat top(s) to place monitor speakers on for the movie system which I could not do with the majority of other brands. Saves on cost of stands or wall mounts LOL. 3. Full range response for backing tracks/movie tracks, though does require a sub for serious low end below ~40 Hz. Not as deep, loud or impressive as the Ev ZLX-15P's I used to have but a fraction of the price and still shake the house! Great top end/resolution/dispersion with no breakup/ice-pick beaming or weird noises. Can listen to all day. Output peaks about 105/109 db @1M when clipping lights on the back start to flash. Did not push to red-light warning. Still loud/dynamic enough to compete with live playback. Amp runs very cool-can not feel heat on the back panel. 4. Price- you kiddin' me?. 5. Modern Appearance- I do not like staring at open horns. Cons- cabinet vibrates a lot which adds color to the midrange, can not turn off the front LED but looks cool, knobs feel like I could bend them off with two fingers so I handle them carefully. Buy and try before spending a ton on any other brand!

I like this powered speaker, just be advised that the "600 Watts" is really Peak Music Power Output (or PMPO). This should be called 180 watts RMS (Root Mean Square) according to specs here: http://harbingerproaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Harbinger-Vari-V2215-V2212-Manual.pdf .
So call it a 180 watt powered speaker. There is a slight hiss. I use two as either stand-alone of as extensions of my regular system.

Great monitor for your average gig

By Jesse Pearson

from San Diego, Ca

Pros

  • Perfect stage monitor volumes, decent sound.

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Stage monitor, rehearsals, mp3 play-alongs...

    Comments about Harbinger Vari V2212 600W 12-Inch Two-Way Class D Loudspeaker:

Every thanksgiving I try a buy something on sale at Guitar Center that I can use to gig with. These Harbinger powered speakers (I bought two) are engineered for great stage monitors, the volume and sound/tone are perfect for the stage . The bass is so good I had to roll it back when pumping backing tracks through them via an mp3 player. The top RMS operating level with no red l.e.d. lighting is almost too loud for prolonged listening at my house, which is a good bang for the buck. These speakers are also wonderful for solo work using pro backing tracks, more then enough for any solo restaurant/bar gig. The RCA audio input jack has bass and treble e.q. controls that work very well. Thanks again Guitar Center for a great deal on a good piece of gear. I will eventually mod some better protection for the controls on the back to prevent any accidental damage during travel...the construction on the back make it easy to do this with some thin wood pieces cut higher then the knobs. I will also make covers that can double as floor mats to prevent scratches from the monitor floor use. Thanks again Guitar Center for a great deal on a good piece of gear.

        Comments about Harbinger Vari V2212 600W 12-Inch Two-Way Class D Loudspeaker:

I purchased this when the Harbinger speakers were $100 off. All I can say is "Wow"! The speaker is built solidly and sounds really good. I've used it on a few acoustic duo gigs and I couldn't be happier. I originally bought it to use as a monitor, but this thing can hold it's own. Will probably buy another one when they are on sale again. Only issue is finding a cover for it. For the money I spent I can't imagine getting a better value.

I bought this after seeing a friend use his. I received it just before my daughters graduation party and I impressed a lot of people with the sound quality and volume from just this 1 speaker. I had more people ask me where I got it. I think 2 might be too loud for some venues.

As a full time DJ I need some speakers that can hold up with the amount of use and strain they will be put through. These speakers are tanks, they sound great and can handle the bass of all the top 40 music we play. The new style is cool I like that the horn is covered now, the light on the front isnt bright enough to distract anyone during wedding photos. Cant beat the price. I cant foresee buying any other brand.

I bought one of these a while back as a keyboard amp and it worked out very well so when these went on sale recently I picked up another. I can use one for my keyboard amp and the other for my own PA monitor. For the price these can't be beat. Clean sound and pretty good power output. They're well built and feel solid plus are not too heavy to hand carry. With two I can also use them if the need arises as a simple PA system (I have a mixer and mics).

As I read some of these negative reviews I laugh to myself. Look these speakers are designed for smaller lower sound level venues and they work great, so good I'm ordering another one tomorrow since they are back on sale and a steal at that. I perform in Duo/Trio performing Latin Jazz, etc. I also added a powered 10" sub-woofer to our rig and it all comes together very nicely for "NOT IN YOUR FACE" live music in which I believe where much of the negative reviews come from. These are not designed for heavy rock/metal, etc. just not going to perform for those types of genres at all.
My nylon and Jazz box guitars, vocals, keyboards, flute, percussion sound fantastic through these speakers, if your a tasteful player you will be very happy with these speakers, you simply cant beat them at this price point. So a word of advice for all the kids on here burning on these speakers, get your self the 1200+ watt speakers systems, no high energy loud player is going to be happy with these, but the tasteful player will be!

I am a soloist and play acoustical guitar. I do not play in any very large venues, mainly at church. These speakers paired with my Boss acoustic singer VE8 give me all I need, more than enough power for I would say up to one hundred people or maybe more. Plenty of lows and highs crystal clear. I sometimes record backing tracks on my Korg 12 channel porta studio and play along with them. These speakers carry the drums and bass recorded great.
