Bought this at GC because we had a small party to play for New Years. THIS SYSTEM IS GREAT for small, indoor parties. Plenty of volume for bluegrass / accoustic music. My son borrowed it for practice with his rock band - it can't compete with two or three guitarists and a drum kit - but does just fine for parties. Plan on using two powered speakers to beef up the output, and use the two speakers that came with the system as monitors. Don't know how that is going to work yet. However, for the money - the system is CLEAN - easy to use, light weight, I am very happy with the purchase thus far. Used it in our show the other night and everyone around said it sounded great. Used the "record out" jacks to plug into a digital recorder and made very nice recordings for a CD. I recommend this product.

After reading the other reviews I expected something with some kick but it was all highs and no bass. I think this stereo system repelled the crowd more than anything and it doesnt get that loud. My sony stereo system thats over ten years old sounds better than this. Don't get your hopes up.

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

Worked fine under light use in home. 3 years later I tried to use it on a hot summer afternoon. Amp was in the shade, but after 5 minutes at half volume, the sound completely cut out. I was only using 1 channel, so I tried the others with no luck. After 10 minute cool down, it worked for another 5 minutes and no output again, even though the power light was on.

Surprising Mighty-Mite PA System

By William

from Austin, TX

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

I purchased the HA60 during a Spring sale at my local GC in Austin, TX, along with a pair of speaker stands. I have a background in pro sound, so I purchased this backseat-sized rig with realistic expectations. We have used this for numerous elementary school events, all outdoors. This is not a system that I expected much out of in an outdoor venue, yet it has surprised at every turn. Here are two examples: - Outdoor dance performances in the front parking lot of our elementary school. The system covered approximately 150 spectators and student dancers with music and voice. Levels were kept moderate. The speakers were on stands and we used third-party 1/4" speaker cables of a higher gauge and slightly longer length than the stock cables. Playback was via CD into the Aux inputs. Everyone reported the system was easily heard, clear, and music quality was pleasant. - Elementary "Field Day", covering a 5 acre playground area hosting multiple events for students. Music playback and voice. We really got to "stress-test" the rig with this gig. At the higher volumes you have to watch your low frequency settings, you can unsettle the cabinets with ease. However, if you keep levels just below noticeable distortion, and keep the LF energy neutral you can get a surprising amount of level out of this system. It defies the 60watt, 2-10" + piezo horns that comprise the system. *Note that for this gig we used a small Harbinger PA50 self-powered speaker for near fill, which was perfect for giving the overall coverage we needed* Keep your expectations reasonable and you should have no reason to not enjoy this compact, low priced system. It definitely punches about its price. Personally I like the 10" cabinets better than Harbinger's 12" version, they lack a 1/4 octave of response on the bottom but what is there is punchier and cleaner. The piezo horns can get a bit strident, just dial back a little bit of 3-4k (if you have a source with eq) and it cleans it up nicely. If you expect chest-hitting bass from a pair of 10" cabinets on stands then this is not the system for you. If you expect decent quality playback and solid vocal reproduction this little 4 channel system is all you may need for a long time. Note: a better microphone makes a big difference with this system, avoid the cheapest dynamic mics. A SM58 is the best upgrade to this system you can make for vocal reinforcement. Playback through the aux RCA inputs from portable sources is much cleaner than pushing through a channel, even though that input lacks any tone control (I use the eq in my iOS apps instead). We use the tape-out to daisy chain PA50 units for extra coverage or as monitors when needed. $70 each at GC, great supplement to this system. No problems, runs all day at full tilt in the sun without overheating. I understand some people have gotten bad units, but honestly the Harbinger labeled products seem to have fewer issues with this than sister products with the Kustom label. Hope this review helps anyone who is making a decision about this class of small PA system.

Fantastic for the price!

By David

from Portland ME

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

I had to try to sing through a small practice amp when we When we were just getting started as a band I needed to get something that could compete with the drum set and guitars so I got this system because it was all that I could afford. I am happy to say that I can be heard now. I only run vocals and a miked acoustic guitar through it, but the sound is crisp and clean, and the delay when set properly does a fine job approximating reverb. Clearly it's not for larger venues, but at 60w it's good for anything from a home studio to a medium sized bar. The bass is lacking however. Overall this thing provides a great bang for the buck. As to some of the other reviews that say it's too quiet, I would like to know what they were expecting at that price point?

Great Service & Sound

By Michael

from Fallbrook, California

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

All that was left was a floor model which we couldn't use so the guys whipped one out of distribution and shipped it free! When it arrived it was perfect and it drove our 12 inch Yamaha P.A. speakers just great with power to spare. We haven't deployed the 10" pair yet but after reading the reviews I'm going in today to test them out for later use outside. We have a large meeting hall at our Spiritual Center and will use this gear on a regular basis.

Very Impressive For The Price!

By Robert L

from Fayetteville AR

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

New owner: At $120, this system just can't be touched. It looked good right out of the box. I set it up and ran some music into the AUX from my phone. Despite what some others have reported, it had great bass response on recorded music. The track was "Kombo - Cookin' Out: Lowrider." Heavy bass line. More than enough power for a single, duo, or recorded music in a restaurant, lounge, patio, or beer garden. I tested all the channels with a Shure Beta 57. All worked perfectly. The digital delay is just an echo, with speed, amount of effect, and number of repeats. Completely useful for vocal. I do wish it was stereo, but I'm sure the price would've been higher. The rubber feet for the head came in a plastic bag. You remove a screw on the plastic(!) amp corner, and replace it with the foot and longer screw. It's not big, it's not fancy, but it does what's expected of a 60 watt amp. If this rig holds up well, it will be a fine tool. You just never can tell when a small P.A. will come in handy, and at $120, you shouldn't let this one be sold out before you get one.

Extremely limited, but good quality

By Brian McAlpine

from Texas

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

Ok, the good news. The overall sound quality is good. Clear with very little to zero noise. The delay is a little "cheesy", but gave a little ambience and space to vocals. The EQ is basic, but it does what it's supposed to do. Now, for the bad news. I got this thinking I would be able to get two vocalists on top of a low/ medium volume guitar for some small-room showcase performances. It seemed like plenty of volume at GC. But, when I got it to our practice space, I found out it wasn't even close to enough power. I tried to set it every possible way. It just doesn't cut it! In fact, I'm having a hard time understanding what use this system could possibly have. We have one of those cheap all-in-one compact stereo systems (15 years old), and it easily can drown out this PA. My advice to anyone thinking of using this system, for any application, is to pay the extra hundred dollars and get the 120watt system (at least). Even if this has enough for your needs. I guarantee it'll just be enough. The 120 watt system will at least give you a little more headroom. This convinced me to spend more $ and go the powered speaker/ non-powered mixer route.

Can't Beat The Price

By Michael Bishop

from Yakima, WA

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

I bought this for my wife to use for her Co-op. She needed a PA and a sound system for her presentations. We got more than expected for the small price tag. Appears well built and sturdy. The output is better than we imagined. We plan to use this for outdoor summer night movies as well. It's not Dolby surround sound but if you want that you'll need to spend hundreds more! Great buy!

Are you kidding me?

By ROBERT VAN HEES

from Yucca Valley

Comments about Harbinger HA60 PA System:

We are a 6 piece Country/southern rock/classic rock cover band with 4 singers. I laughed when our drummer first showed up with this thing only to be blown away with how good it sounds. It sounds great for vocals. We just bought a 800 watt Berringer powered mixer and giant 2x15 and a horn Kustom cabinets. The Harbinger sounds better! I'm not lying.
