Big clubs and venues already have fantastic sound systems, so if you're playing live a lot - you don't really need to worry about that. Obviously, this isn't going to outdo your guitar player's Marshall half-stack and if your drummer is Mike Portnoy you might want to look at something with more wattage, but you can't beat this for the money and portability house parties. This Harbinger HA120 is pretty fantastic for small bands and DJs. I bought this package with my bandmates for a few smaller house parties and small, private bar shows and it has outperformed our expectations. We generally play at larger venues where our sound technician is present and the capacity is 1200 to 2000, so we're not strangers to great sound design. The sound of the Harbinger is clean, punchy and loud. I'm the drummer in the band and I hit pretty regularly. This PA really doesn't have much trouble with that. The first day I had it, I took it to a friend's party to DJ. It performed great. If you take your craft seriously and have good quality MP3s (considering you're a digital DJ) this thing isn't going to be bad for house parties and the backyard barbecue scene. It's not the most bassy system in the world, but, to be frank.. in those situations (house parties and back yard parties) you're losing most of your bass to the elements anyway. Once people get a few drinks in them, all they'll wanna do is dance. Unless you're putting together a live venue or you really need a ton of wattage to be louder than some overzealous musicians, this is a fine system. I wish when I was younger that they had had stuff like this. Would've saved a ton.

I bought this as a cheap alternative to getting something incredible because we needed to have something to play with. Now, I definitely should have gotten the warranty because the thing didn't even work correctly out of the box. The second and third channel were broken right off the bat, the craftsmanship on the speaker outputs is flimsy, and there's a horrible EQ consisting of low and high. Nonetheless, this thing DOES get loud, but that's about the best thing about it. I honestly suggest saving up for one of the bigger and better systems than this one.

You think just because its new its reliable

By Gregory

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Shiny and new out of the box. it worked great. I used it sparingly, never really turning it up loud or abusing it. Ive used it maybe 12 times since I bought it last year in July. The other night in my basement practicing, got my acoustic in line 1 turned up to 4. my mic in line 2 turned up to 4, the master up half way. all of a sudden the amp goes dead, both channels, then 5 seconds later it goes on again, 10 seconds later dead again, then on, then dead, So glad this was not a live performance where I was being paid. Harbinger, Greatly disappointed in this system, Its in the shop being repaired. I would love to think the repair will fix it, this is the only amp system I have bought in 20 years that failed like this. Maybe its only good for kicking around in the basement. Dont know if I will feel comfortable relying on it for a gig in a small venue, which is why I bought it to begin with. Go for the extra bucks an buy a small Mackie or Yamaha, system. Somtimes lessons are learned hard.

Could not be more satified

By Hughes Kitchens

from Macon, Ga

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

This System is perfect for the aspiring singer/song writer with only a few pieces. I either perform by my self with backing tracks or with a small three piece band and this is absolutely perfect for what I do. I play through a large amp so there is plenty of room for my mic, bass, and even electronic drums or a mic on the bass drum/snare. It's got a great sound, bass is nice and deep and rich and my voice has never sounded better through another system. I hardly bring the master volume over 4, mostly because I play small venues, but it will easily fill a bar or even a restaurant. If you play larger venues, I recommend a monitor, but or smaller bars or patio gigs, this is all you need. (Oh and make sure you by PA stands).

Pretty good for the price

By Dan Nobles

from Charleston, SC

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Pros: Good bang for the buck. If your looking for small PA just for vocals or vocal and a guitar but don't want to break the bank this is pretty decent for the price. Speakers sound good and not real heavy. Warning that weight loss is likely because of small magent. Note these are 88watt speakers. They sound good but if you later over power them too badly they will get blown. The mixer/amp is pretty basic and will do but don't expect to have much EQ or options. It does have built in delay which is better than nothing. The compresson horns sound much better than the peizos in most speakers in this price range. Much louder than I would have expected. Cons: 88watt speakers. Paired with amp and your safe. You throw a bigger amp with too much wattage @ it and your gonna blow these. MONO MONO MONO. This is a MONO power amp. That means even if you run a sepearate board into this you will still only have a mono sound. For a lot of applications that is fine but it should be better noted on the description. Only Low and High EQ on the channels. How much really woudl have cost to give it Mid control? That should have been standard. The Amp could use a bit more headroom. Overall: I got this for some project work me a vocals have started and used it a couple of times. Overall I didn't expect too much and it worked fine. I did use a seperate board into it and good reverb unit. Even outside it throws sound well and is much louder than I expected. Overall I'm happy for something to get me started until I can affords a better setup.

Product vs Shipment Packaging

By Randall Scott

from Martinez, GA

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

When I purchased this product, I was quite surprised with the product as well as the UPS delivery experience. As for the product, it is Great and I think the price is very hard to beat. However, the UPS delivery experience was something else. It took 3 tries to get it done without Product and significant container damage; and I thank the Guitar Center very much for their support and Professionalism. I think the ~80 lbs and relatively thin cardboard container really gave UPS a challenge for speedy delivery.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

We bought this system for imputing a karaoke system and playing other music via my laptop. we have used it as a living room system for small parties as well as outdoors for large parties. It sounds great low and it sounds great loud. Our friends are amazed at our pro grade system and with each imput being adjustable...everyone sounds great singing to their hearts content. we are using akg d 8000m mics.

Awesome Starter Set!

By James Sanderson

from California

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I bought this as my first PA System. There was a lot to choose from, and the winning factor was portability. After hooking it all up, it is LOUD! Added bonus was AUX in. Ive played couple shows with em, and they hold there own against 2 half stack and bass and a mic'd drummer. Found speaker cases pretty easy, but hard time finding a mixer case. All in all, best starter set out there.

Pretty good for the money

By Jeremy Adkins

from La Crosse

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

i scream and sing in a metalcore band. I got this to use in practice and it does its job, although it does get a lot of feedback when we have 2 mics close together, but none with just my mic. i had a scary issue where all the sound coming out was badly distorted and the speakers buzzed loudly and it turned out that the power cord was faulty and i replaced it and have had no issues since, that is why i give it 4 stars. its a really nice budget setup though... the mixer could be a little less basic though.

Good WHEN it works!

By Paul Portch

from Grass Valley CA

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Purchased in late Oct 2012. Used at low volume at home for 10 days. First real use at 40% power was on 11/12/12. After two hours of performing with my keyboard, the head suddenly cut out. No overpeak warning light on either channel. Unit would work again after a couple of minutes, then cut out again after maybe a couple minutes of playing. Apparently some sort of thermal switch is being tripped, even though the unit is NOT being pushed very hard. I remember reading comments of this or another site from people who had the same problem. In fact the first unit I tested at Guitar Center cut out after only 5 minutes. As it's a 250 mi drive to GC, I am not particularly pleased with the product at this point.
