Big clubs and venues already have fantastic sound systems, so if you're playing live a lot - you don't really need to worry about that. Obviously, this isn't going to outdo your guitar player's Marshall half-stack and if your drummer is Mike Portnoy you might want to look at something with more wattage, but you can't beat this for the money and portability house parties. This Harbinger HA120 is pretty fantastic for small bands and DJs. I bought this package with my bandmates for a few smaller house parties and small, private bar shows and it has outperformed our expectations. We generally play at larger venues where our sound technician is present and the capacity is 1200 to 2000, so we're not strangers to great sound design. The sound of the Harbinger is clean, punchy and loud. I'm the drummer in the band and I hit pretty regularly. This PA really doesn't have much trouble with that. The first day I had it, I took it to a friend's party to DJ. It performed great. If you take your craft seriously and have good quality MP3s (considering you're a digital DJ) this thing isn't going to be bad for house parties and the backyard barbecue scene. It's not the most bassy system in the world, but, to be frank.. in those situations (house parties and back yard parties) you're losing most of your bass to the elements anyway. Once people get a few drinks in them, all they'll wanna do is dance. Unless you're putting together a live venue or you really need a ton of wattage to be louder than some overzealous musicians, this is a fine system. I wish when I was younger that they had had stuff like this. Would've saved a ton.

I bought this as a cheap alternative to getting something incredible because we needed to have something to play with. Now, I definitely should have gotten the warranty because the thing didn't even work correctly out of the box. The second and third channel were broken right off the bat, the craftsmanship on the speaker outputs is flimsy, and there's a horrible EQ consisting of low and high. Nonetheless, this thing DOES get loud, but that's about the best thing about it. I honestly suggest saving up for one of the bigger and better systems than this one.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I like the PA for it's price -- got it 50% off new. BUT .. per the manual, I've tried a momentary footswitch to turn delay on and off and it did not work. Tried a click on/off footswitch that also did not work. Has anyone found a footswitch that turns delay on and off?

Speakers better than I was ready for. Reverb would have been nice, but all in all for the price, good deal. I'm using it for acustic rehearsal. Would not cut if for full band sound.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

The system sounded very flat when I ran my Boss recordings with the RCA jacks to the inputs on the power head.
I called support and they said that only the four 1/4 inch input channels would be effected by the digital effects. I am using the system that way but you do lose stereo capability.
Nice solid system with enough power for small rooms. I wish the system had reverb and may purchase a separate effects unit for that.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I read the reviews which seemed good enough, and bought from MF rather than GC - as I didn't have time to go to a store. Pleasantly surprised at the power and solid construction although it did have a little shipping damage on a front edge banged in. Wasn't worth returning the unit. Worked fine. I would recommend this product.

Impressed that at the price point, the cabinets, speakers, and mixer/amp were solid and not plastic. Recommended with qualification depending on what you are going to use it for. Should have blue tooth or wireless option.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I was expecting a few bumps and scratches as seen in the pictures prior to ordering. When I received the speakers, the packaging was a mangled mess. At this point, I was concerned the speakers may have been effected. I tested the speakers to find that one of the tweeters is completely blown and the other just doesn't sound very clear at all.

My advice: pay the extra money to buy it new and pick it up yourself

            By Gregory

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Shiny and new out of the box. it worked great. I used it sparingly, never really turning it up loud or abusing it. Ive used it maybe 12 times since I bought it last year in July. The other night in my basement practicing, got my acoustic in line 1 turned up to 4. my mic in line 2 turned up to 4, the master up half way. all of a sudden the amp goes dead, both channels, then 5 seconds later it goes on again, 10 seconds later dead again, then on, then dead, So glad this was not a live performance where I was being paid. Harbinger, Greatly disappointed in this system, Its in the shop being repaired. I would love to think the repair will fix it, this is the only amp system I have bought in 20 years that failed like this. Maybe its only good for kicking around in the basement. Dont know if I will feel comfortable relying on it for a gig in a small venue, which is why I bought it to begin with. Go for the extra bucks an buy a small Mackie or Yamaha, system. Somtimes lessons are learned hard.
