Big clubs and venues already have fantastic sound systems, so if you're playing live a lot - you don't really need to worry about that. Obviously, this isn't going to outdo your guitar player's Marshall half-stack and if your drummer is Mike Portnoy you might want to look at something with more wattage, but you can't beat this for the money and portability house parties. This Harbinger HA120 is pretty fantastic for small bands and DJs. I bought this package with my bandmates for a few smaller house parties and small, private bar shows and it has outperformed our expectations. We generally play at larger venues where our sound technician is present and the capacity is 1200 to 2000, so we're not strangers to great sound design. The sound of the Harbinger is clean, punchy and loud. I'm the drummer in the band and I hit pretty regularly. This PA really doesn't have much trouble with that. The first day I had it, I took it to a friend's party to DJ. It performed great. If you take your craft seriously and have good quality MP3s (considering you're a digital DJ) this thing isn't going to be bad for house parties and the backyard barbecue scene. It's not the most bassy system in the world, but, to be frank.. in those situations (house parties and back yard parties) you're losing most of your bass to the elements anyway. Once people get a few drinks in them, all they'll wanna do is dance. Unless you're putting together a live venue or you really need a ton of wattage to be louder than some overzealous musicians, this is a fine system. I wish when I was younger that they had had stuff like this. Would've saved a ton.

I bought this as a cheap alternative to getting something incredible because we needed to have something to play with. Now, I definitely should have gotten the warranty because the thing didn't even work correctly out of the box. The second and third channel were broken right off the bat, the craftsmanship on the speaker outputs is flimsy, and there's a horrible EQ consisting of low and high. Nonetheless, this thing DOES get loud, but that's about the best thing about it. I honestly suggest saving up for one of the bigger and better systems than this one.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

This system works great for the money, you're not going to find anything this cheap that is this good.It has a few minor annoyances but for the most part it is a fantastic system for the money, it is plently loud, and has a few effects for the voice.

Super loud!!!

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

i am a drummer and bought this so i could play music live and this by far is the best system yet im running 2 mics a guitar and a ipod all at the same time! (i play guitar too) it handles it no problem. but this can over power my drums no problem and you can hear it when in my neighbors house. I have borrowed a 2000 dollar system from my church and this over powers it by far so over all its a verry good choice!

Very Impressed

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I'am a major professional recording artist, an original member of Eddie and the Cruisers and former member of The Dupree's but above all very particular about quailty sound. When I perform live shows I have larger sound companies do my sound but occassionaly do a solo act and was looking for something small, compacy and light weight. The Harbinger HA120 is absoultely phenominal in quality sound and well worth the price. It delivers clean sound and punchy bass and more then loud enough to perform inside or outside samll gatherings. Take my work for it, I'am a perfectionest, maby the Virgo in me but this PA system ROCKS THE HOUSE !!!

A definate buy.

By Caleb

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I play drums for an Alternative All Time Lowish band, and forever we'd have problems with the drums overpowering. Ever since we got this it hasn't been a problem. The sound quality is great. they get extremely loud. I couldn't ask for more expecially at this affordable price. I reccomend this to anyone with similar problems and for a low price is amazing.

Budget PA With Great Sound

By Robert Conroy

from San Diego CA

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I bought this after selling my 300 Watt Yamaha PA, to use for small venues. It has a 4 channel mixer with an auxiliary line input too. Each of the 4 inputs have 1/4 in phone plug input plus an XLR, so low and high impedance inputs for mikes, guitar, bass, etc. The electronic delay effect sounds good. The amp is mono and minimal impedance is 4 ohms so you can hook up one speaker (8 ohms) or with both speakers plugged in 4 ohms. You can't add additional speakers or monitors to the speaker output jacks unless you wire them in series, rather than the usual parallel, to keep the speaker impedance at least 4 ohms. If the speaker impedance gets below 4 ohms, the power transistors could overheat and damage the amp. For a lower power mono PA, this is probably the best deal out there. You could always get bigger 8 ohm speakers to bring out more bass, but the ones that come with it sound ok for a small club or home jam. I've run mike, guitar, bass, keys, electronic drums, didge, and ukulele through it and all sounds great. Add a 100 watt or bigger powered woofer (it does have dual RCA line out), two speaker stands for the main speakers, and you've got a very portable kick butt DJ system.

Do not buy this!!!

By Jeremy Newton

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I read all the reviews on here and thought i would give it a try. I wasnt expecting anything great here, but from all the other reviews i was expexting a decent sounding set up here and thats not at all what i got. I know how to hook up audio equipment so that was not the problem, everything worked but sounded terrible. If you even think of giving it some volume it will be very loud like a factory car stereo system with no bass what so ever even with it turned all the way up and at lower volumes. I have a surround sound from walmart that cost $79.99 in my garage and in sound quality it blows this Baringer system away! Highly disappointed to say the least. Save up more money for better equipment, dont make the same mistake i made. i bought this at the dayton mall guitar center, on the plus side there employees are very helpful and great to deal with.

Great for price but damaged when I opened the box

By William Ross

from Newnan, GA

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I have heard and read great things about this set up. I am a preacher. I bought this to help the youth group and for movies outside in a small parking lot. The sounds are great for the parking lot. I have had people use these before so i thought they would be great for the church. When I got these from the store the box looked bad, when I got them back to the church and took them out the screens on the front of the speakers were mashed in and one of the speakers was falling out. The screws were not holding the speaker in place. I was disappointed. I am taking them back as soon as I can. I did not give them a 1 star rating because I have heard them and know they sound great but this set was bad from the beginning.

Easy, Powerful, and Affordable

By Brian

from Fresno, California

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Just bought these for DJ ing at smaller parties and blaring music in my house and I am more than happy. The speakers are fairly light weight are pretty powerful. Its easy to set up the system and comes with everything to get started. I recommend buying stands for the speakers. When the speakers are on the floor the sound doesn't travel up much and they don't seem as loud. If you are just starting, or pretty experienced, this is a great set up.
