For someone who is not impressed very easily these Harbinger APS 15" Speakers sure made me smile big! Allways more power and volume, clean sound, durable and rugged construction, reasonably priced, I honestly can't find one thing wrong with them. When I want quality sparing no expsense to get what I want, I got what I wanted for so little. Harbinger being new to the market did it right the first time. Would do it again,

Really.... I can't believe the "over-rated " reviews on this speaker. I read them, trusted them and purchased the speaker. That was a mistake. I have been a working vocalist/musician for many years, and I am conctantly trying to decrease the load and increase the results. I thought a powered speaker would be the most sensible way to go. Also, keep in mind....I bought this on sale for $149 which seemed like a great deal. The speaker looks great, and appears to be solidly constructed, but the sound in general is very "hollow". I believe this to be due to the design and materials, but I can tell you that EV no amount of EQing was going to change that. EV, JBL, Mackie, speakers of a similar design don't sound like that. They sound great. The amp/speaker is only rated at 200 watts. I was only using a sing;e mic input for a rehearsal. It didn't take much at all to light up the "clip" indicater and generate distortion. There was no way I was going to get the output volume that I needed for even a relatively quiet band practice. Maybe the speaker is much more suited to a direct line input, but if you are send ing voclas thru it, let alone keys or an electric acoucic guitar it's not going to deliver. I know what I am doing when it comes to live sound, and I "baby" my equipment. Trust me when I say..."This one doesn't cut it...not even at $149"!! Spend a few more bucks and get a better powered speaker, or go with a powered mixer and a better passive speaker. If you still think you want to buy this item, try to thoroughly demo it at the store and save yourself the trip and hassle of returning it. You'll thank me for this honest and acurate review.

Small venue, mobile, house party, booth monitor - great!

By Bill

from Albuquerque, NM

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

Own two of these and the 18inch sub that matches and it sounds good for a second stage setup in a small venue that I run. Main stage booth monitors, house parties, or a quick mobile setup, these speakers, for the price, are perfect. Main stage sound worthy? No. For the price and purpose though, I am happy! Clear sound and pretty nice low end response, just not enough punch.

Impressed!

By Jeffrey Zapiecki

from Toledo, OH

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

For the price, I did not expect much. But these sound great, especially considering the price! Two handles would be nice, and yes, I am also paranoid about breaking the plastic enclosure...but for this price, I have no complaints (so far)!! One issue though - I bought two and one of them was producing some intermittent distortion and static...ruled out cables/mixer/power/etc. Took it back to GC and exchanged for another with no problems.

Great systems IF you know how to use them

By Andre Landrum

from Jackson, MS

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

The Harbinger APS15 when used properly is a perfectly good system. It CANNOT handle a lot of low end but if used as an HF and MID RANGE along with a GOOD solid sub woofer then you have a full range system at a most reasonable price. OTHERWISE you'll be paying BIG BUCKS for a high end system. When used as the HF and MID RANGE you can crank some really nice sound levels out of these babies w/o distortion. Run the built in equalizer with the low end rolled off almost fully on the lowest end and then a bit of boost in the mid range and flat at the high end slider.

You Can Easily Do Better

By Joseph Salvatore

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I'm a big fan of finding cheap gear to get the job done, and I don't need to buy high end names to feel good about myself. However, I have to give this speaker a low rating because you can get a vastly superior one for not much more money. I hate when people compare a piece of gear to another product in a much higher price range, but I don't think that's what I'm doing. For $80 more, you can get an Alto or Mackie 12", which both have a far superior power and sound (yes, even in the low end). I used this speaker for three weeks in my practice room. I'm in an acoustic duo, so clarity is a big concern. Projecting power is an issue also. Here were my problems with this speaker: - extremely underpowered. At 200W, this was peaking at low volumes with an acoustic guitar and one vocal. If you think you might ever be in anything but a very small venue, you'll peak this thing out. - graphic eq is useless. It just isn't musical. The eq on your mixer is way better. If you're plugging right into the speaker you're out of luck. - Overall sound. At low volumes it doesn't sound bad, but at any volume it starts to come apart. Eventually I spent $90 more for an Alto 12" powered speaker. I paid $289 versus $199. 800W of power instead of two, much clearer sound. Smaller, lighter, and holds the low end at least as well if not better. Just make sure you do some comparisons before you buy these. There are better options.

Unbelievable how Awful these are!

By Jason Garcia

from Bay City, MI

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

Even at the cheap sale price I paid today I will be taking these back tomorrow. They distort very easily. I'm not sure how the one in the store sounded so good because no matter what I hooked up, it wanted to distort with barely anything coming through. After about an hour messing with both the EQ on the speakers and on whatever I hooked up I could get it to come through at low volumes and sound good but once you turned it up it went to awful. For 15" speakers in my living room even though I wouldn't need it to, it should be able to have enough volume to make something rattle other than the cheap cabinets that they come in.

Excellent for the price

By RUDY MENDEZ _

from Houston TX

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I own 8 of these speakers and send them out with DJs, Bands, and Karaoke. If you know what you're doing they are great but if you don't they sound bad. My oldest pair are about 2 years old and are used 4 nights a week. They still work great and sound great. They can be pushed and handle it. I've had them knock over on speaker stands and they still worked. You will get distortion when the master is lower than the input volume (just like a guitar amp). You will get a power humm if your cables are bad. If the speakers are set right you get a great sound out of them. I have yet to blow one or have one of the many people that use my systems blow one (knock on wood). Buy it if you don't need a big name and want great sound and value.

Great sound low price

By Edgar Hernandez

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I purchased a couple of this speakers and I will say for the price, they sound great, if you are looking for a speaker that will impress a 150+ crowd please look another way or add a couple of subs they will do the job, this is a speaker for a back yard party, garage band or stage monitor, if you crack it too much of course it will over heat, this is a low price cab, The only complain is the EQ, big thumbs up for guitar center, great guaranty!

Good Starter System!

By DREW CYPERT

from Lubbock, TX

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I got one of these powered speakers about 5 years ago. at that point this was the one of the two powered speakers on the market; an affordable version of the Baranger model. First off, let me clarify what these speakers are made for. in total, assuming you have 2 of them, 400 WATTS will NOT work for a full band! you need at least a 1000 WATT system for that. but if you just play solo Acoustic music they are fine and i would recommend them to you! and if you play with one or MAYBE too acoustic accompaniments (hand percussion, lead acoustic guitar, or really any mic-able/acoustic-electric instrument) I would recommend some kind of passive mixing board, but even a few acoustic instruments can clip one of these suckers out. as far as quality, it is overall good gear for an ENTHUSIAST or a BEGINNER! if you are a regular giging musician and you're looking for gear with the best sound quality, than you're really getting what you're paying for here. not to say that these are BAD sounding speakers, but there are better ones out there.
