  • Sound seems good, cabinet fragile

As reviewed by eddycurrents on 12/10/2010

I had them shipped to my nearest store and they arrived in less than a week. When I got them home and unpacked them, one had a broken foot. On closer inspection I saw the cabinets are hard plastic and the feet are molded in with the cabinet. If they break, you are SOL. I guess if you use speaker stands you won't care but I suspect these speakers won't travel well. Mine won't travel, so I'm fine. I ran the busted speaker back to the store and exchanged it. No muss no fuss. Kudos to Guitar Center. I just wanted basic speakers for my garage band and I got some serious sound with these. I wanted the 15" speakers to get some bass and yeah, it does bass. The volume they produce is more than double what I need and the sound is clear. I hooked them up to an MP3 player to check the range and they met my expectations. Excellent choice for a garage studio.

  • Great Cheap Speaker for What It Does Well!

As reviewed by Stan on 3/7/2011

I use Mackie self-powered speakers for my main PA system and needed some floor monitors for vocals. These work great! For vocals, the dynamic range of these speakers is perfect and for the price, I picked up 3 of them and love what they do. **If you are wanting to use these for your main PA speakers, I would advise caution. If you want the most volume out of them, use the line input from a mixing board and only run vocals. If you try to use a mic or instrument run direct, you will quickly overwhelm these speakers at a fairly low volume. Also, these things simply cannot handle the low frequencies put out by a keyboard.** But they make excellent vocal floor monitors for the price!!!
