Usually, a special hardware or a hi-hat stand is needed to mount a closed hi-hat, however the Hammerax SkyHat cymbals have inverted cups which allow the pair of cymbals to be mounted on any stand or cymbal arm. The tightness of sound can be adjusted instantly simply by turning the standard wing nut.
SkyHat cymbals can be used separately. The bottom cymbal is very heavy, with a loud bell quality. The top is an aggressive crash in the larger sizes and a tight bell in the smallest size. To create a double bell, just place one or more cymbal felts between the top and bottom. The gap created allows the control of 2 separate cymbals when the wingnut is tight. Loosen the wingnut and the 2 cymbals can crash together when hit. The double bell mode of SkyHat also features a resonant air cavity between the cymbals which amplifies lows.

i've had these skyhats for 6 months and these cymbals were a complete and total waste of money. when i first got them i thought the hats dark kind of chunky sound was kind of neat but i wasnt too found of it over time ive just started to despise them they sound worse than the crummy hihats that my junker kit came with and whats worse they look even crummier time takes an astounding toll on how these things look. save your money and buy ZBTs theyll sound better
