works well on carpet and if you have a ridge or lip to rest the top of the stand under
no good on wood stages (just get a floor mat or little rug, no big deal)
Way better to carry around then most stands
negatives are that i cant get a stable fit with all of my amps (the ones without some upper lip)
placement must be precise, i have dropped my amps as many times as not weith this stand, forward or backwards. But maybe I play too loud!
simple and positional
build quality is good,
10 if they make adjusting quick change
inexpensive and effective

Use Velcro

By CyberWookie

About Me Experienced

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

I bought this stand after reading the comments about stability issues. For the price, I thought I'd give it a shot and use some pedal board velcro to secure it to the amp. So far, it's worked pretty good. I can carry the amp from home to rehearsals with the stand attached and not have to worry about remembering to pack it with my other gear.

They could certainly improve on the stand by make it so it cannot "open up" beyond a certain angle. Right now, the hinge of the amp plate and the stand itself will swing open to 90 degrees when it really doesn't need to go more than 45. I plan on cutting a wedge shape piece of wood and gluing it to the amp plate as a stopper.

Unstable in any conditions

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

It doesn't attach to the amp other than friction on the top pad. You move your amp at all, and the whole thing collapses. It needs a clamp to grab the amp so the stand just doesn't fall down.

The floor brace is likewise friction only. If the floor vibrates or is not grabby like carpet is, the bottom will move and ... the amp will collapse.

    Basically useless without modifications.

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

I'm looking for amps stands and I came across this one. I don't own this but it's clear to me this needs to be attached to the amp back for to to be stable. You need to be a little handy but if you drill a couple of holes in the top plate and install threaded inserts into your amp back, you can use a couple threaded knobs to attach it so it's easily and quickly removable. I don't know if I will buy this but if I do, I'll firmly attach it to my amp back one way or another.

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

I like the design of the stand with one exception. It should have spikes such as those on high-end speakers or stands to secure in carpet. I can see this slipping on smooth floors, but I found it still slips on my brand new carpet floor. Not comfortable leaving my new combo teetering on this stand.

Almost good, but makes me nervous...

            By reid

            from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

I just used the stand the other night at practice and have to admit...it does what it says it will do! However, I do have some nits to pick: 1. It makes me nervous. I'm using a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30. You're really trusting this thing to not slip and drop your amp right on it's back. Depending on the surface that the base makes contact with, I'd be very careful. The practice facility where we play, as you can imagine, has some pretty old and crusty carpet so the base seems to "stick" OK. But I would not use it on thicker carpet or other more slippery surfaces. 2. The part of the stand that actually touches the amp is pretty wide. On my specific amp, it's almost too wide covering the standby switch and, depending on whether you use a footswitch or effects loop, it may simply not work on your amp because it may be too wide. 3. I would not trust it to hold up a 2x12 cab by just leaning it back on the stand. Unless the stand has something to really "stick to" on the back of the cab, (like maybe lodge it under a screw or something), I'm taking a very good guess that the vibrations of the cab will just force it to slip and fall. (Just look at the picture of the product above holding an amp by simple friction. I wouldn't trust that!) All that being said, I'm going to continue to use it. I think I've kind of figured out a way to make it work. I do like that it's adjustable and love that I can finally tilt my amp! I just can't give it 5 stars. Worth the price for sure if you can make it work for you.

It"s a very helpful tool for my amp I always had to tilt it back against the wall or let it sit flat on the floor or in a Chair but with the Hamilton Amp stand all of those problems are solved & the sound is much better!!

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

I have a smallish 12" open-back combo. You can kind of stick the "amp side foot" in between the slats and it holds it there very securely with some rubber no-slip stuff. I feel very confident using this and it's a pretty small form factor. I might think twice before using it with a closed-back amp though.

I recently downsized my rig to a combo amp and this amp stand is great for tilting up my amp to be able to hear myself. It's sturdy and solid. Well built.. Best of all it fits in my pedal board case!

Comments about Hamilton UniStand Guitar Amp Stand:

Very compact. Surprisingly secure at its floor end. As suggestions to the manufacturer, I'd urge that they include velcro patching as an option to secure at the amp end. Also, one must unscrew/disconnect bolt to change holes to change angles; a better design would have had a linear slot within which a loosened but still connected bolt could slide through. These are but suggested improvements to make unit use/set-up quicker and more convenient. Overall, a well-made, functional product.
