Comments about Hal Leonard 200 Guitar Licks (CD-ROM):
This is by far the best lead guitar CD I have used to date. It is not a beginner's video, being that it doesn't show how to make the bends, pull-offs, hammer-ons, ect. But if you are at the next stage of the learning curve, this video is for you. It is a must have. Two hundred licks, in various styles, arranged in such a way that you can navigate each style very easily. This CD is very user friendly. In other words, you don't have to be a computer genious to figure it out. Each style has it's own window, with twenty different licks to learn in that style. To learn the lick, not only do you hear it, but you can watch a video of a guitarist playing it, and there is a fretboard at the top of the screen which lights up at the different note locations as it's being played. Also, at the bottom of the window, there is Tab which also light up as the notes are being played. To top it off, you can slow the speed down to help you learn the riff, then slowly speed it up when you're ready. All this while maintaining the pitch. The icing on the cake is the backing rhythm track that they give you for each riff. That too can be slowed down as needed. There are two drawbacks that I found with this CD, neither of which would stop me from purchasing it. First, it has to be played from the CD. You cannot download it to your computer. Second, it freezes up occasionally when you slow the speed down. That being said, I can't wait till they come out with Volume Two...
