Comments about Hal Leonard 101 Must-Know Blues Licks Book/CD:

A collection of useful and rather tasty blues licks presented in a very intelligent manner. Each lick is set out in both standard notation and tablature and is recorded on the accompanying CD at both normal speed and slowed down to facilitate the learning process. The notation also helpfully points out leading tones, turnarounds, arpeggios, etc., all of which make it easier to figure out how and when to use each lick in real playing situations. The licks are also grouped into separate chronological and stylistic categories, including Pre-War Electric, Post-War Electric, Country and Early Chicago, Memphis, Texas, Modern Chicago and Texas, British, and "Postmodern" styles. This book are CD are very helpful for anyone wanting to add some variety to their blues playing, especially intermediate players who may have gotten stuck in a rut. Highly recommended.
