This course is designed to focus your practice towards realistic goals achievable in 6 weeks. Each week provides you with techniques, concepts, and licks to help you play and understand country soloing at a manageable pace. Lessons are by Steve Trovato.
Practice can sometimes be difficult and you're often unsure which material to work on. With the Country Guitar in 6 Weeks guitar course the material is presented to you in easy-to-absorb sections that progress in a sensible, logical order. Each week's DVD includes a killer guitar jam track.
Week 1 includes the major pentatonic scale and variation in one position, right-hand picking, country phrasing, sequencing the major pentatonic scale, 3 licks in the style of Vince Gill
Week 2 includes the 3-octave, horizontal pentatonic scale and variation in 2 keys; picking techniques; building solos using repetition; slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and sequences; 3 licks in the style of Dickie Betts
Week 3 includes diatonic 6ths, playing major pentatonic scales across changing chords in a simple progression, pedal steel licks and bending, chromatics, pick and finger technique, 3 licks in the style of The Eagles
Week 4 includes playing a classic country blues, chick'n pick'n techniques, one minor pentatonic scale pattern, mixing the major and minor pentatonic scale to produce bluesy country licks, 3 licks in the style of James Burton
Week 5 includes learn a classic country boogie blues, muted bass lines, introduction to dominant 7th arpeggios, combining chords and licks, using arpeggios to create cool licks, 3 licks in the style of Danny Gatton
Week 6 includes learn to play over a 4-chord progression, an introduction to major triad arpeggios, an introduction to hybrid picking, developing hybrid picking techniques, 3 licks in the style of Albert Lee
Steve Trovato is best known as a world-class country guitarist, but is equally proficient in a wide range of popular guitar styles. He has written a number of best-selling guitar tuition books and maintains a full-time position in the Guitar Department at the University of Southern California.
